    from Laura Stewart Added 23 1 0

Ken: Story of a Western Drifter, shot on Super 8 sound in the rail yards and forgotten wasteland beyond Denver's Central Station, in the no man's land every American city features. It was once the land that Jack Kerouac tramped in On the Road. Ken, a former Army brat and present-day drifter, reminisces on his limited options as the winds of winter begin to blow down from the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.

            • Fast, Cheap and Master Control. 1986

              from Mark Chesak Added 48 1 3

Shot on location at WGBY in Springfield, Mass: this is an autobiographical piece tracking the solitary life of a technician signing-on and broadcasting from the depths of the local PBS station. (Yes this dates from a time and a place when TV stations actually signed-on.) There wasn't a lot of daylight down there, just the "jagged white hum" and me. But perhaps a better title for this project would have been “Soft, Out of Focus and Master Control”… Because it wasn’t fast. Shot with Super 8 film in the mid 80ties, the footage was then transferred to 1” video tape in the 90ties, with ¾” burn-in dubs made of that. Then in 1998 the 3/4 tapes finally made their way up north to the Maine Film Television Workshops, where they finally got digitized and cut on an Avid system. In the end it’s all layering, luminance keys and Brian ENO.

A roll of Kodachrome 40 Sound Super 8 film filmed in October of 2010 while pumpkin picking. The film had an expiration date of 1998, but was kept refrigerated to preserve its quality. Apologies for the hair in the gate and the lack of sound quality. My projector needs a new belt and hence the warbled sound. Filmed using an Elmo FS20-XL camera. Processed by Dwayne's Photo in Kansas. DIY Telecine.

                      from Putchfilms Added

While in High School, Film maker JOHN PUTCH puts picture to the famous Phil Harris song. Starring Super 8 buddies Michael Pizzuto, Jon Taylor and Michel Horvat. Vintage adhesive transitions and the inability to sync the picture completely up to the song makes this Super 8 gem a relic of the magnetic S8 sound past. Shot with a Chinon Pacific S8 sound camera, with onboard lap dissolves and fades.
