It didn’t snow in Tahoe for almost the entire month of January. Out of curiosity and boredom Corey Smith decided to attempt to build some handmade snowboards. He was interested in long boarding style in surfing and exploring similar concepts on snow. He wanted to deconstruct contemporary snowboarding down to its simplest element and find beauty in simply turning. "I’ve always wanted to explore and experiment with snowboarding as a physical outlet of creativity," states Smith. So he ended up building some experimental snowboards. When it finally did snow record amounts in Tahoe he was glad it did. These boards provided a completely unique snowboarding experience and opened up a world of terrain previously inaccessible on traditional snowboards. Some of the boards were incredibly functional and some were purely conceptual. All the boards also serve as one of kind pieces of functional artwork. "Building and riding these boards has been one of the most best experiences I’ve had snowboarding." - Corey Smith www.springbreaksnowboards.com Filmed and Edited by Kevin Castanheira Additional video footage by Ryan Scardigli Music: Jeans Wilder "International Waters" Margo Guryan "Take a Picture"+ More details

One day till Christmas: Thank you for watching, www.instagram.com/MetronFilms www.facebook.com/MetronFilms Music: http://itunes.apple.com/album/prelude-2/id257130211 http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/divenire/id212970099 _____________________________________________________ Just because it's Christmas - And at Christmas ... This is a short story of the lonely robot celebrating holidays. Primavera - Spring (season) in Italian Set of "Making Of" photos can be found here with the comments: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vmetron/sets/72157624089679968/ I took days off from Christmas to New Year and planned to make a short film in Yosemite, but then I saw this little robot and thought it would be more interesting to use him in the story. Besides there are many robots on this planet who always spend holidays alone. Then I watched the original movie once again with all the comments from its director Andrew Stanton (for inspiration). I listed a few scenes, which I wanted to shoot, scribbled some storyboards ( they are really like scribbles from 3 year old kid, but turned out to be very useful) and started off. I started filming it right on the day after Christmas by driving to Yosemite, and then spent many more snowy weekends in Tahoe and Yosemite making all these shots one by one. Some of the shots involved hiking, skiing and even snowshoeing. Not that they were required, but just because I like all of that. I even flew this little robot to Alaska, not sure if he enjoyed it though: One morning we stopped to make one shot on the way to Exit Glacier. It was 7'F outside, that's super cold, so his battery was dying every minute and I had to carry him to the car to heat him up after each take. At that moment I thought that it would be much more interesting to shoot video of me struggling with not-so-cooperative robot, freezing temperatures and all the things which I have not done before but eager to learn. Thanks to Gogaren, Uma, Zoran and Zorana for ideas, feedback and for dropping the robot from the cliff ( with parachute ), to Adam for the snow.+ More details

Crown Jewel: One of Tahoe’s finest unclimbed lines, Crown Jewel, was sent by Kyle O’Meara this past summer. It climbs a perfectly clean 30 foot overhanging wall with sustained moves throughout. The boulder sits in a spectacular position perched above the Phantom Spires. About Time In The Pines: Over the past few years a select group of hard climbing Tahoe locals have been scouring the area, spending a ton of time under the big pine trees and secretly picking off world class boulder problems. The Time In The Pines series is a tip of the hat to the hard work that the select few have put in.
