    Staircase: This was done in Houdini using some Python scripting to control how the parameters interact with each other (ie, if you change the height of the staircase, the stairs move with it.) The height of the stairs will stop if they start intersecting, and the box staircase was done using modulus to turn discretely instead of in a spiral. Hyperbolic Plane: This was an attempt to create a hyperbolic plane in Maya by using the concept used in crocheting one (an example can be found here: http://www.cabinetmagazine.org/issues/16/crochetmagenta.jpg). It was created solely in Maya Python as an exercise in using recursion. A plane is created at the center of the world, then each side is cut in half so that it consists of eight points instead of four. Every other point is moved upward, then the sides are extruded, and the process is repeated. To make the object look more interesting, I added joints to it and animated it using a sine wave tool that I created. Visual effects section: Dissipation: This effect is called Ethereal Ambush and was created in Unreal Engine 4's Cascade particle system editor. It consists of a material, which dissolves the character from the bottom up, and the particle system (the clouds and sparkles). Wind Tunnel: This was also created using Cascade. A vector field was created in Maya, then imported into Unreal to be used in Cascade to achieve the swirling effect.
