After returning from Belco yesterday I was asked: “How big is it?” Not being the best judge of distances in metres or feet… I explained that “It is longer than you can manual, it is way longer than you can throw a tennis ball… maybe even longer than you can throw a frisbee”. I am surprised that visiting skaters are not given a GPS upon arrival. The word vast only covers a fraction of what we are talking about here. Belco is the biggest skatepark I have ever laid urethane on. Most parks are lucky to have one obstacle to suit everyone’s tastes. Meanwhile, Belco has at least ten tantalisers waiting for anyone who visits, no matter what their tastes. Our traditional site visit on the Friday arvo prior organically morphed turned into a multiple-hour session. During the chaos of the shred filmer Shane Fowler noticed that the scooter count was at an all-time low. From all our recent observations there has been a major drop in numbers in cities all over our isle. Brilliant news. Yes, rejoice as there may come a day soon when you won’t have to worried about helicoptic decapitation due to an eight-year-old eagerly twirling a bra-whip. "New country and old friends. A foundation, a beginning. An idea. Each year we’d each pick a stream on our borders, a thin blue line of water splashing from high mountain hold in country without roads, and few trails. If it were easy, we thought, anybody could do it and the fishing would be a thin soup, or polluted with brook trout, cutt-bows and the like. No, our targets would be wild and pure, the waters crystal, as they were and as they are." Go to www.oursportingheritage.org for more...

The class final for my 1st Maya class. I gotta say, this was pretty awesome considering the fact that our class was totally out of control (like yelling, rapping, throwing things, screaming out "That's a GLITCH!" every 20 minutes and inventing the phrase "SPAGHETTI!" to mean anything at any time (like "smurf") every single day of the semester. Project was to do a complete 20 second animation that ended with the camera traveling through a portal. The portals were just background shaded that allowed the different scenes to be composited on top of each other.
