The Champaign Signature Tower is designed to provide a remarkable mid-rise architecture as an indicator between business district and residential area. The structure adapts to the rotated city grid of downtown Champaign and grows upward in an algorithmic manner. The twisting form is visible from any perspective. In addition, every perspective of the structure is different, yet the whole building is symmetrical. The architecture also connects to below traffic flow without any obstruction of the flow. The attached retail space further enhances users experience by providing entertainment and supporting services.

full post // http://chrisandoliver.com/blog/2010/10/04/how-it-ends-inspire-to-think/ {no cgi. no animation. all real footage. all shot by us} We showcased our new piece at Entrusted Talents: The Show--the organizers behind the event invited various artists to perform @ Foellinger Auditorium on the University of Illinois Campus, and we were graciously invited to create something to start off the evening. This piece afforded us the opportunity and freedom to create something very personal--an opportunity to express our beliefs, to create something broader in scope, to push the boundaries of what we've done thus far--and yet, like all of our films, something that would carry much of its weight in its subtleties. *A lot of this piece is beautifully [and painstakingly] shot, but I believe there is much more to be said about all the little things found in the layers of subtext. It would be great if people enjoyed this film on an aesthetic level--after all, we put in some serious hours on this one. However, our hope is that the visuals we produced ultimately lead to and inspire thought. I'm quite curious to hear yours :]

First time using iMovie. Song used: Broken Social Scene's "Shampoo Suicide." In the spring of 2007, during my final semester of college, I took a photography class. One of the last assignments was to create a cohesive set of photographs with a theme or underlying narrative. Anyway, that's how my project, "...As The Crane Takes Flight", was born (yes, the title is a direct reference to the Ted Leo song). I wanted to portray today's youth through a series of staged and unstaged photography shoots and translate each lifestyle from music I listen to (the songs that primarily inspired me were: Broken Social Scene's "Anthems for a 17-Year-Old Girl," Belle & Sebastian's "Dirty Dream #2," and Smashing Pumpkins' "Thirty-Three"). I took many photos over the course of two months, in Chicago and in rural central Illinois -- all of which are featured in the video. Since my camera took 3 exposures per shot, I realized I could dick around iMovie for a few hours and actually make a small movie. Out of thousands of photographs, I ended up using about 46 of them for the final photo project. To see the results and a more cohesive story, check out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/retuta/sets/72157594577400723/ Oh, and I got an A in the class. If you cared, which you prolly didn't. -p.

"How To Spot A Freshman" was produced by students in MEDIA 100, a course taught in the College of Media at Illinois. Groups were instructed to create a presentation on life at Illinois as a freshman. Students then worked with UI-7 to turn the presentations into a video. This video is a compilation of the best ideas from each of those presentations.

The Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership traveled to Israel in March 2011 to experience and document Israel's amazing startup community. We met with various startup companies, incubator programs, and venture capitalists to discover what makes Israel, an incredibly tiny country, so successful when it comes to new venture creation. We hope to apply what we have learned to inspire and enhance the startup community in Illinois. This documentary feature was premiered at the Startup Illinois Dinner on May 19th, 2011.
