A special remix of some of my previous works, i felt that they could meld together in an intuitive way. I always felt like they were a work in progress and so i take them to the next level.. a sort of strange continuation of my 'selective' working methodology. Small moments caught from nature are re imagined sonically in an almost hypomanic style. Seemingly banal or normally unnoticed moments are selected and brought into the foreground via selection and heightened sonic treatments. This work celebrates both the beauty and detail/movement of nature and also the power that sound can have over the image. By creating my own audio interpretation to accompany these images i feel like a new sense can be created. Perhaps hidden sounds come forward to add detail and suggest movements normally unnoticed or maybe the subjects take on a completely new meaning. A struggling beetle fighting to right itself becomes a mechanical battle, a humble house fly becomes anything but humble and a cow on a frosty winters day becomes a moving/living/breathing factory. The power of sound to create a new imagination is endlessly fascinating and i hope this work can touch a little on this thought.

      • Liz Danzico - Adding By Leaving Out: The Power of the Pause

Build is a small, yet perfectly formed, boutique design conference where interesting, talented web practitioners from all over the world come to share ideas, techniques and inspiration. Some are on stage; some are in the audience -- www.buildconference.com We tend to think of the pause as awkward. In speech, pauses connote uncomfortable silence, an issue at hand, and as communicators, we smooth over silence with fillers. We’re trained to deliver smooth speech, censoring “um” and “ah” out. As designers, as much as we value whitespace, we tend to fill it. This distaste for the pause — and the inverse seeking an always-on state — is a daily battle we face. We’re impatient with the pause, and as a result, we’re missing out on a great deal. What would happen if we become more comfortable with the pause? As it turns out, we can add by leaving out. From Edison to Underhill to web-based software, learn where the pause has power. Part designer, part educator, part editor — Liz Danzico currently resides in New York where she is the chairperson of the MFA in Interaction Design at the School of Visual Arts, works as an independent user experience consultant and muses on her blog, Bobulate. --- Produced for Build by Box42 - www.box42av.com | @box42av

EN A week of videoprojections and tests to experience the 3D stereoscopic technology applied to mapping at first hand. The Apparati Effimeri collective came back to studio aware of the huge possibilities that the stereoscopic tool can offer to mapping technique. In addition to the by this time "classic" mapping on architectures, the video projection was realized directly inside a garden. There are, needless to say, Infinitive potentialities.
