I bought my canon HF100 camera a few months back, but did not have time to play around with it. Finally last week I got around to taking some test footage and editing it. I used PF30 frame rate and XP+ setting to capture the footage on the camera. Then I used Sony's Movie Studio Professional Pro software to edit the footage. I created the project with "HDV 1080-60i (1440x1080, 29.970 fps)" template. Following are the values for the project... Width: 1440 Height: 1080 Field Order: Upper Field First Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.333 (HDV 1080) Frame Rate: 29.970 (NTSC) Full Resolution Rendering Quality: Best Deinterlace Method: Blend Fields After adding the video file to the "Project Media" tab, when I click on the video to display the VIDEO PROPERTIES, this is what it shows - Video: 1440x1080x12, 29.970fps, 00:02:35;04, Alpha=None, Field Order = Upper Field First, AVC After editing the video and adding a sound track, I rendered the video with the following values - Video Format: AVC Frame Size: High Definition (1440x1080) Allow source to adjust frame Size: Unchecked Profile: High Entropy coding: CABAC Frame Rate: 29.970 (NTSC) Allow source to adjust frame rate: Unchecked Field Order: None (progressive scan) Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.333 Bit Rate: 12,000,000 This was rendered to an .mp4 file. And this is what I uploaded to vimeo. Although I am quite happy with the output, I do I have a few question, though I would put it out here for comments... 1) Even though, on the camera I used PF30 (which I think means the camera is recording at a frame rate of 30/sec in progressive mode). When I import them into the vegas movie studio and click on the properties of the video, WHY is it showing "Video: 1440x1080x12, 29.970fps, 00:02:35;04, Alpha=None, Field Order = Upper Field First, AVC", which I interpret it to be interlaced? Is the camera wrapping the 30fps progressive to an interlaced format? 2) When there are any significant movements in the video clip, the edges of objects seem to have some amount of jitter... I am wondering what is causing it? What would be a good way of removing that? 3) Does anyone know of any other way to improve the video quality?

Hey guys, this is a video of a Car Fire after an accident on the Garden State Parkway in NJ. It was very dark out so did not get a chance to really get the settings just right let alone the nature of the situation (car was on fire!) It was taken from about 25 feet away... I grabbed my Canon HF11 and had it on Shutter Mode (1/60) and 30p and 24Mbps. As you can see I trimmed a clip and played with the Magic Bullet Suite and made a montage of the same clip with 4 different filters..... Edited with FCP and Exported in QT H.264-720p-3,000kbps-This really gets the file size down (2min video 55MB) and keep the video in usable quality....

This year, like all the other years, we went to Gimmeland to pick out our tree. It's a real treat going there, seeing Santa, sitting around the fire with waffles and coffee.
