WaterFire relies on a fleet of specially crafted boats crewed by volunteers to make every event a numinous happening. They are specially designed and unique in the world. Tim Blankenship, WaterFire's interactive media manager and a former member of the production crew responsible for building and maintaining the fleet, provides insight into several of our boats. See more detail and back this project on Kickstarter: http://waterfire.org/float-our-boat We need your help to build a new boat. Athena, which has served WaterFire Providence faithfully for the last 18 years, has reached a point in her career where she is no longer the safe and reliable work boat that our production has come to love. Built in 1998, Athena was one of the very first WaterFire boats. Since the beginning she has been our primary work boat, but has also seen use as a floating performance platform, camera boat, guide boat, auxiliary fire tend boat during events at low tide and is crucial to our river maintenance and brazier installation workflow. After years of service and repeated patches and repairs it is no longer safe and cost effective for her serve as our primary work boat.+ More details
