For the final week of the Join In Summer CC were sent to Manchester to 'Strictly Wheelchair Dancing' and Edinburgh to Lothian Disability Badminton Club and the special guest at both events was Dave Moorcroft, a World Record holding Athlete. The Join In Summer was a huge success with many clubs receiving boosts in the numbers of attendees and volunteers. We would like to say a massive thank you to all the Athletes and Volunteers for taking part in the films and helping with the productions.

Exegesis: In this class exercise, we had to follow a script where a character really needed to use the restroom at uni. He was being misguided along the way, facing many obstacles, such as being directed in the wrong direction by several people and the receptionist, and finally when he finds a restroom, it is out of order. In the end, he couldn't wait any longer, and so he ended up using the staff kitchen sink as his toilet, totally horrifying the receptionist who walks in on him, making for an awkward yet hilarious situation. Conceptually we were attempting to show a man desperate in need to find a restroom in a hilarious, yet frustrating way. We wanted the audience to really feel for him and want him to find that restroom he is so desperately seeking. We used quick, snappy shots to really capture the fast paced nature of the story, especially of the guy running up the stairs in desperate search for a restroom. Our editing was quite smooth when he first slides from one shot to the other at the beginning of the scene as he makes his way up the first flight of stairs. The slide was quite smooth and funny to watch as his physicality is interesting to watch. Although the first receptionist he encounters laughs at him because she cannot understand a word he is saying because he is in a hurry, we felt we should leave that part in because it fit with the story and we as the audience laugh with her as well. We captured a lot of running up flights of stairs to show his struggle and need to find a restroom, and being misguided by several people along the way only made it funnier to watch, as the character is frustrated and in desperate need of a restroom. Overall, I think we captured the humour of the story and character quite well, as audiences could relate to his frustration. I think the lighting was ok in this exercise as only had the fluorescent lights to work with, as well as natural lighting. However, the lighting within the final scene in the staff kitchen was a bit dim and we tried to open the blinds a little so that we had more natural light to work with. I think the sound in this exercise could have been captured better using a boom to eliminate the background noise, rather than using our camera microphone, however the dialogue was minimal and not so much the focus, but rather the action and physicality of the character was the main focus.

This week at Lakeview, we told stories. We learned that our stories are woven together, not just through our lives, but through the greater story of Jesus Christ and His death and resurrection. This is a video of our fun, games, hurts, and spiritual growth. If you enjoyed the music from this video, check out Urban Rescue on iTunes: itunes.apple.com/us/artist/urban-rescue/id281880640
