Eyad is a beneficiary of the Near East Foundation and USAID's Youth Agribusiness Partnerships program. The program is designed to foster economic development between the two economies while introducing Israeli agribusiness entrepreneurs with their Palestinian counterparts. Eyad and his partner Alla run a cooperative in the West Bank city of Tulkarim. From there, they buy seeds from their Israeli partners, seeds of high value crops popular in Israel. They cultivate the plants in their nursery or grow the crops entirely, or they move the seedlings to other Palestinian farmers' fields, then sell the harvest back to their Israeli partners at a profit, creating jobs at every step in the value chain and improving livelihoods for themselves and every one involved.

In the West Bank, Palestine, on the northern tip of the Jordan Valley lies the tiny Palestinian village of Al- Aqaba. It is a tight knit community, quiet but for the sound of children at play at the kindergarten school and the thud of artillery explosions from the surrounding IDF training bases. It is a village under constant threat of extinction. Over the past 30 years the population has dropped from over 2000 to the current 300. Residents have been intimidated and evicted from their homes by the Israeli regime. Virtually every house has a standing demolition order issued by the Israeli Civil Administration. It is apparent; the Israeli goal is to force all residents of Al-Aqaba off their land. Our revealing documentary “Encircled,” depicts and reinforces this constant tension between the pastoral life that the village strives for and the political/military threat it faces. It will allow the residents of the village full voice to tell their story, within the context of the larger issues facing the area, most specifically Area C, the portions of the West Bank under direct control of the Occupation. Haj Sami Sadeq, the Mayor of the community who is confined to a wheelchair as a result of IDF sniper fire at age 14, is dynamically advocating for human rights and dignity for himself and his community. The latest edition of Salaam Shalom: Report on Palestine/Israel will focus on Israeli war crimes committed in Gaza in the summer of 2014, during “Operation Protective Edge.” This matter took on new resonance of late with the release of a report by the Israeli anti-occupation organization Breaking the Silence (BTS). The report consists of testimonies by nearly 70 Israeli soldiers and officers who served during last year’s war on Gaza. We will feature videotaped testimonies recorded by BTS of two Israeli soldiers who witnessed and participated in war crimes against Palestinian civilians in Gaza. We will also air a report on the BTS findings by The Guardian, offer a blistering condemnation of Israeli war crimes by Professor Cornell West, and present a “primer” on besieged Gaza by the AJ+ media project. This program will close with an eloquent and uncompromising description of life and resistance in Gaza and of Israeli occupation and violence by Dr. Mads Gilbert, a surgeon who has volunteered in Gaza’s hospitals since 1981. In a region where agriculture is the backbone of the people's livelihoods and culture, water is the most important resource. The Palestinian West Bank experiences shortages all over the area and trucking in water can be expensive. Olive farmers must be very careful how they use their water. Irrigated trees can yield up to 78% more olives snd 96% more olive oil than unirrigated ones. Olive Oil Without Borders participants are trained to make the most of their water through techniques designed to maximize the tree's usage and slowly decrease water use between planting and harvesting. Farmers like Jabar from the West Bank village of Salfit see the differences immediately and teach others the process. Olive Oil Without Borders is a three year collaboration between NEF and USAID, designed to promote economic cooperation and knowledge sharing between Palestinian and Israeli olive producers. Workshops, hands on training, marketing and business planning are just a few of the elements shared between the two, facilitated by NEF. The project is currently in its second three-year iteration.

Ammar runs a farm outside of the ‪#‎WestBank‬ village of Asira with his family. He joined with NEF and ‪#‎USAID‬'s Olive Oil Without Borders project because he was interested in making the most out of his twenty donums of olive trees. He trained how to clip his trees, use compost, and to ‪#‎water‬ them in the most effective, sustainable ways in a region which is severely short of this valuable resource. This year's olive harvest in Israel and The West Bank was not as good for Ammar and many farmers like him, but with new tools and the latest techniques, some Olive Oil Without Borders partners are able to produce more olives in a single donum than other farms' entire harvests.
