    • Vision Nine Presents: Q&A with Jenny Jones

On Thursday 29th May Vision Nine launched the first Vision Nine Presents event, a series of talks, panels and Q&A’s held at our London office on Shelton St. The sessions will revolve around the people that really inspire us to do what we do. For our inaugural evening we welcomed snowboard legend Jenny Jones to take the spotlight discussing her career with long time buddy and BBC commentator Tim Warwood. A dab hand at interviews since becoming the UK’s first EVER Olympic medal winner on snow at the Sochi Winter Olympics this February, Jenny shone as an articulate and engaging public speaker, sharing her personal highs and lows and the incredible journey she has been on since winning the bronze. Once questions were opened to the floor we discussed the changing perception of women in sport, the importance of brand support for athletes and how the Olympics will change public perception of snowboarding culture - in Jenny’s eyes for the better. Thank you to all of our guests for a memorable evening and we look forward to the next edition of Vision Nine Presents later in the year. For a reminder of the evening’s highlights please watch the video edit below and check out our Twitter feed at #V9Presents.

Setbacks happen to all of us at one point or another -- and we always look within ourselves, and the support of others, to rise. I wrote this script for Liberty Mutual's "Rise" campaign to convey how the brand not only embraces second chances, but is a catalyst for guiding people on the comeback trail.

As part of a series of the Olympic campaign, this spot was created to raise awareness of CBC's coverage of Sochi 2014 on multiple platforms including TV, digital and radio. As a result of the extensive promotional efforts, more Canadians tuned into CBC/Radio-Canada's coverage than any other Olympics in history. During the Olympic Games, roughly 95 per cent of the population had tuned in to any content from the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games on either a French or English platform. This video is property of CBC.

            from Larry Cappetto Added

I had a dream last night I was skiing in heaven. I didn't realize how much I missed skiing until putting this video together. I started skiing in 1970 and competing shortly thereafter. I ski raced 7 years trying to make the U.S Ski Team. In 1972 during the Olympic games I broke both bones in my right leg skiing. I was in a full and half cast for over 12 weeks. Some of my fondest memories are going to ski camp in the Tetons - Grand Targhee, Wyoming. I remember skiing powder up there in June. I competed in Vermont in 1977 because there was no snow in Colorado. I skied for Colorado University in Boulder, Colorado, in 1977-1978. We trained at Lake Eldora. I remember getting shin splints in my right leg that year and having to wear a splint when I skied. Those were the days. I miss them dearly. http://larrycappetto.com

When this year’s Winter Olympic Games began in Sochi, Russia, things didn’t go quite as planned. Journalists arrived to find their hotel rooms only half-finished. So they turned to Twitter to complain about their bad experiences and a hashtag was born: #SochiProblems Right away, Airbnb, the world’s largest hospitality company (with over 500 listings in Sochi), seized the opportunity for a real-time marketing, responding to journalists' problems directly via Twitter. All of a sudden the #SochiProblems hashtag had become a conversation about Airbnb. The brand appeared to be one of the biggest sponsors at the Winter Olympics, all without sponsoring anything.

This was a piece I edited during the Winter Olympics for Sports Illustrated. Heather Richardson and Brittany Bowe grew up as competitors, became close friends, and together went on to become two of our nation's top speed skaters.
