In order to collect Objects for his "True Story" exhibition in Guangzhou's 4-Side-Museum, Frank Gerlitzki exchanges invitations for the opening party with Items to be displayed during the show. The residents of the neighbouring village, even if knowing about the existence of the museum, would never visit it by themselves. Frank Gerlitzki is an artist, gallerist, curator and humanist with a long time experience in social practice, relational aesthetics and multidisciplinary approach. After having founded the gallery Espace ApArt in Luxembourg, a physical space for dialogue and cultural exchange that brought together artists of different countries for several years, he went travelling for a while in search of a "different space" and stopped in China. Beijing seemed already too fast and structured, so he moved to Guangzhou and found in the village of Xiao Zhou Cun an "island" to wander around and get lost. Since then he has worked from there in collaboration with the independent space Sabaki, the Guangzhou Art Academy and mostly with various artists and the "local people" he is so fond of since his arrival. Showed his work in numerous exhibitions and art-events in Luxembourg, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Poland, Morocco, Spain, Korea, Poland, China, Mexico, Austria, the United states and the United Kingdom. Honored by various awards. He has been the subject of publications all over the world. Frank Gerlitzki lives and works.

we found hundreds of these in a recently destroyed village, saved them and decided to place them along a foothpath in a forest close to xiao zhou village. after a few weeks all the figures had moved to the village...are they still alive? THE TRUE STORY: Nobody has to know (how/like it really was) episode4 of SAT The museum of fragments and episodes presents artefacts of the real and/or imaginary life of Frank Gerlitzki: fragments of a curriculum, a manipulated biography completed by complete strangers. A generation of thoughts, signs, objects- a reflection about reality, imagination, manipulation... After his move to China, Frank Gerlitzki began a reflection of his life. Discovering old documents, thoughts written down, signs, pictures, objects and artefacts, he wasn't able to situate in time anymore, unable to connect them with the related details such as names, anecdotes and episodes. This made him doubt about the true reality of some of these fragments and memories. Nothing was fixed, everything was in movement-he was unable to document his own precise reality. So he decided to let his resume free, let his biography flow, let it generate itself. Pushing this development to its extreme, he abandoned its control and left its faith to the hands of complete strangers: his public, who were asked to participate to complete the museum's collection. Finally the "Frank Gerlitzki Museum" tells us more about ourselves and the public than about the artist. As in all serious museum, guided tours are offered, an eminent foreign specialist of the artist's life gives detailed informations about the exhibition - a simultaneous translation gives it even more importance. The true story was first shown in 4-sided museum, Guangzhou. It was composed by 5 parts: VID(very important documents) A comic strip, completed by exhibition visitors A giant painting, representing different moments of my biographie done by 50 people who didn't know me A guided tour by a foreign specialist and a collection of objects I got from people in the neighbour village (as exchange I invited the donators to the exhibition opening) performance-video.
