A photographic essay that explores the current status of the U.S.A's horde of captured enemy artillery from WWII. Many of them are sole-surviving examples and irreplaceable international treasures. In the past couple years there has been a huge movement in the restoration and preservation for these metal warriors as they arrive in their new home of Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Be prepared to see such rare German combat vehicles as the Heuschrecke, Grille, Munitionspanzer, Brummbär and many others. Kris Peck © October 2013 Notes, Corrections, and Updates: *The Soviet and French cannons were in German service at the time of their capture. *The German Panther tank was technically a Medium tank, but it was a BIG medium tank. *The Soviet m1931 203mm had no engine and had to be towed. *Fort Sill Field Artillery has artillery from 1775 to the present. (Not just WWII) *Fort Sill also has an Air Defense Artillery Museum which is separate from the field artillery. *As of December 2013 the Munitionspanzer has been moved from the artillery park to indoor display alongside the Grille. The StuH 42 and Brummbar are next.
