So Where's Home? explores the unique perspectives and identities of Third Culture Kids, people who have spent a significant portion of their childhood overseas. The purpose of this short documentary project is to understand why third culture kids struggle to answer the question of “so where’s home?” and the implications this difficulty has on personal identity. This project was my final senior thesis project for my film & media studies minor at Georgetown University. This was a project for film-school. We had to make a short documentary / self-portrait. I find 5 minutes to be a little short as a limit. I had to be selective about the elements in the piece- I wasn't able to have my parents be in it, which is frustrating, because they're a big part of my life. But I'm still very pleased with how it turned out- so were my supervisors at school, -so enjoy. Equipment used: Video: Canon EOS 7D Canon EF 50mm f1.8 Canon EFS 18-135mm Arri-lights. A short film about my one year study experience in Australia. The story is divided into six challenges and resembles the Hero's Journey from Joseph Campbell. Many thanks to James Joo for all the help when shooting this. And also to Chenchen Ni, Kartika Eka Paksi, James Oczko and many others. Shot on Panasonic GF-1 and Canon 600D, sound recorded with Zoom H4N and Rode NTG-2. Timelapses mostly from Nikon D80 and Sigma 10-20mm... Music was used under Creative Commons License from Kevin MacLeod. Hope that you like it... please feel free to comment :) P.S. Currently looking for a scholarship to study Master studies in Film in either Australia, Canada or America, if you knew about anything, please let me know, thanks :)
