Excerpts from the live action/ intervention "Quid pro quo" by Christina Georgiou Description of action: The artist is carrying her mother while walking towards Ledra Palace crossing point, in an endeavor to cross the border of Nicosia. This action is an action of exchange, a favor for a favor for her mother and all the mothers who were carrying their children while moving from place to place during the exile. The artists' mother has been exiled together with her family from the North to the South part of Cyprus in 1974. With this action the artist is transporting her mother back home as a payback. There is a negotiation between mother and child, where the parent that used to be the carrier of the helpless child receives the favor after 37 years, as the child realizes the mother's wish to go back to where she belongs. The child becomes the motivator, because of the mother's endless wish. This audio/video installation examines the relationship of time, movement and process through a series of recorded actions performed by the artists. Throughout the installation space, corresponding and overlapping audio tracks detail conversations and sounds generated during the activity of producing the work itself. Bernabo is a musician/artist who performs with the rock band/theater troupe/artist collective Host Skull. Walley is a sculptor and video artist who recently co-curated "Ley Line" at Assemble Gallery in Garfield with artist/writer Justin Hopper. Two screens show artists Emily Walley and David Bernabo executing a series of actions, from running between two points to opening and closing window blinds. A voice-over details the decisions made during the creation process that led to the performed actions, but the duration of each video and the voice-over varies, presenting new combinations and contexts for video and voice. The process of creating the piece was documented in video and audio recordings. The audio originates from recorded conversations made during the creation process. The conversations were transcribed and edited. When re-read and re-recorded, the voice-over may no longer fit the original context. The narrative is divorced from a representational image, and the original emotion is lost, rendering it purely functional. Despite contextual trickery, the piece attempts to be an honest, albeit humorous, portrayal of creating. The actions performed in the video are simple, repetitive tasks with a clear goal. Trial and error are visible in achieving each goal. Each action allows for refinement of technique, but contains the knowledge that each repetition brings one closer to deterioration as the body tires.

Let us see what the expression "Spanish Race" the fascists in Spain created actually involves; what is celebrated on the "Day of the Race " (12 October) that Franco regime established.

Video-performance. 3 mayo 2013. Video-performance. May 3th, 2013 Because of the principle of indeterminacy , of being able to do several things at once, as an experiment , just for aesthetic sense, to play with haphazard ... all those, but also all the meanings/intentions you could find.

1, 2, 3 Performance-Installation 2014 Emmedia, M:ST Festival, Calgary (CAN) DURATION: 3 hours MATERIALS: high performance running clothes and drinks, elliptical cross trainer VIDEO: "Loading", 2014, 16:9, 35 mins. (loop), fragments of Youtube 4 CHANNEL AUDIO INSTALLATION: 2700 tracks of 4 seconds selected randomly and played by a computer program “1, 2, 3” is an installation-performance based on sound, Youtube videos and one long durational action. A voice repeats “1, 2, 3” uninterruptly. A collection of four second field recordings from different parts of the world, abruptly recorded during one year. 2700 sound tracks are played, randomly selected by a computer program. 1…2…3… like a martial tempo of a transitory body confused in time. 1…2…3… as a sound check for…. 1… 2… 3…for a disciplined workout and high performance… 1…2…3… a blocked enumeration for an non-exhausted body suspended in loop… The performance lasts 3 hours and is obsessively shredded in seconds. Perhaps a footnote to the old and arthitric Cunningham in its minimal choreography for the video installation “Stillness” by Tacita Dean. Or maybe the search of reaching a trance state throughout fitness. Or just the simple boredom of a repetitive voice filling the emptiness of a diary when you forgot what to say… Once and again… 1… 2…3… running in circles is running around… uno, dos, tres… more info: www.andresgaleano.eu
