A short edit of the performance 'I Met Hindley Street' by the Australian Bureau of Worthiness. Created in 10 days during October of 2013, the project presents the A.B.W.'s findings as gathered from the people who use the street. Emma Beech, James Dodd and Tessa Leong work together as the Australian Bureau of Worthiness to ask the question 'What makes your day worth it?' This project was supported by Arts SA through the Unexpected Cities program. http://worthiness.com.au

A walk through nature is good for our soul. The sun was low on the horizon when, on my way home, I chanced upon an echidna digging for ants. The ants were about one centimetre long and crawled all over echidna's face but it appeared not to care about them. It seemed unperturbed by my presence. In some of the close-up views you can hear the sound of the echidna licking up ants. I decided not to edit the video. At the final section of video the echidna sits under the pipeline for about 1½ minutes (fast-forward if you get bored). I don't know how long it stayed under the pipeline because I headed for home. I suspect the echidna moved to a protected place (under the pipeline) because it heard two men approaching – you can hear their voices in the video. There are a few still images at the very end of the footage. The bird you hear screeching in the video is a sulphur-crested cockatoo. http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/species/Cacatua-galerita# More info: http://www.abc.net.au/science/articles/2000/06/01/2688596.htm http://www.savem.org.au/documents/Treatment-ShortBeakedEchidna-SAVEM.pdf
