Vital Films and Aerial Filmworks presents "Close To Home"…a bonus project of "Days To Come" see now at vimeo.com/57135411 Nestled in one of the most beautiful areas of the world. Aspen Colorado and the surrounding Elk Mountains holds some of natures most spectacular sights. We had the privilege working along side Aerial Filmworks and DBS Helicopter in capturing breathtaking imagery of the Elk Mountains on a Cineflex Camera. "Close To Home" takes you on a stunning journey, as you witness nature in its true beauty. In a time of environmental uncertainty. We felt it was vital to show you our home, and how important this precious area is to us. If we do not change as a whole, beautiful areas like this will only be around so long for us to enjoy. The balance of nature and humanity can be equal. But it starts with understand what it at stake, and protecting that at all cost. For us, this topic is close to home, in fact its right out the back door. Please do your part in protecting our winters, nature, and earth. So we can continue enjoying this place we call home in our lifetime and beyond! Aerial Filmworks invested in carbon-offset credits for all of the helicopter hours in the filming of this production, making this a carbon-neutral production! View the Grand Canyon through our video and images. We use a Google Earth tour to show the locations of each geo-referenced image and video clip. Sara Woodmansee in our studio creatively matched up the real video sequences with the fly-through commands in Google Earth. All images were shot with a Hasselblad H3D-39 camera, and color-corrected in-house. Aerial Filmworks is working with the Grand Canyon National Park to film the national park using the Cineflex V14HD. This amazing gyro-stabilized aerial system uses an integrated Sony CineAlta HDC1500 camera with 42x 9.7mm Fujinon lens. All footage was recorded 1080/23.98p dual-link 4:4:4 to a Sony SRW1 deck on HDCAM SR tape stock. The Cineflex V14HD was mounted on the nose of a Bell 206B3 Jet Ranger helicopter. We worked closely with the national park to make sure all permissions and permits were in place. Daily updates to local air traffic control and the tour helicopter companies were sent on flight days. Our pilot was specifically approved for the operation by the FAA and Department of Interior. We mapped reference points to the GPS and input sensitive condor nesting areas that we needed to avoid. Natural resource and wildlife managers reviewed our flight plans.+ More details
