Firdaus Kharas and I need your help. More than 1.3 billion people lack access to electricity. An additional billion have only intermittent access to electricity, leaving more than 30% of the population of the planet literally in the dark. The world’s energy poor use kerosene and other traditional fuels for lighting. Imagine what a billion homes burning such fuel are doing to people’s lungs, eyes, health, and the earth’s environment. Firdaus' new project, the Solar Campaign is designed to change this by showing people in the developing world why they should convert to clean, renewable solar energy. We've created the first shorts in English but many people in the developing world don't speak English and messages are best delivered in people's native tongue. So we've launched a Kickstarter project hoping to raise funds to translate ("version") the animation into five different languages. We'd be grateful if you'd watch our video and click on the following link to the Kickstarter page. Thanks for helping us help the world's energy poor. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/firdauskharas/solar-campaign-animated-videos-bringing-solar-to-e

More at http://UMC.org/media Native to the Himalayas and gradually introduced into other countries across the southern hemisphere, Moringa oleifera (or Moringa) has recently flourished within Liberia, Africa as a major nutritional resource. The seed of the Moringa tree is a tiny powerhouse of nutrition with 25 times the Iron in spinach, 17 times the Calcium in milk, and 10 times the Vitamin A in carrots. And this little wonder can survive drought, poor soil, and still yield fruit within 6 months. Virtually every part of this "miracle tree" can be used as a supplement for hundreds of essential vitamins and minerals needed for healthy living, and the medicinal value in this plant offers the potential to lower cholesterol, purify the liver, and even prevent blindness. Thanks to the efforts of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and the West Africa Initiative of Liberia (WAIOL), farmers are learning the trade of Moringa harvesting to support their families and their community. Ezekiel C. Freeman, Field Coordinator for WAIOL, believes UMCOR's program has positively affected the lives of Liberian farmers, "Our programs are taking them to trade fair exhibitions and other things so they are encouraged and then they are going far."
