For me, this painting embodies many impossible dualities: the ancient and the future, the real and the imagined, the literal and the abstracted. When I look on this painting, I feel transported to another place in time. Sometimes I am taken to an alternate galaxy in a parallel universe, where giraffes really can have multicolored spots and where suns can take on such colorful and imaginative detail. Other times I am transported to a afro-futuristic & nocturnal scene of an Egyptian or Somali desert: where the palm trees nearby sway in the wind and where birkat (blessings) flow in the warm Nile river. I wonder where the painting transports you? Music: Habibi ya nour el 3in by Alaina & Gipsy King
