the feath3r theory Presents: Andy Warhol's 15 (Color Me, Warhol) concept, choreography and direction : Raja Feather Kelly co-direction and video: Laura Snow WORLD PREMIERE April 2015 at Dixon Place. Performed by Raja Feather Kelly, Amy Gernux, Beth Graczyk, Lindsay Head, Yvonne Hernandez, Rebecca Hite, Nik Owens, Rachel Pritzlaff, John Gutierrez, Ben Wolk, Aaron Moses Robin, Yeman Brown. Collaborators: Tuce Yasak (Lighting and Technical Director); Laura Snow (Co- Director and Videographer); Aitor Mendilibar (Photographer and Videographer); Jesse Ricke, Lisa Lee (Projection ensemble); Erik Abbot-Main (Graphic Design), Jenna Petok, (Marketing). From the creator of the searing cultural drama, the feath3r theory Presents: Andy Warhol’s DRELLA (I Love You Faye Driscoll), Raja Feather Kelly creates another deeply-superficial, gender-bending, race-shifiting, multi-medium ‘Artsploitation’. His new work is surreal and radical dance-theater, plundering the illusions of today’s popular culture, the impending social media war, and that imaginary line separating performers and audience. Co-directed by filmmaker Laura Snow, the feath3r theory Presents: Andy Warhol’s 15 (Color Me, Warhol) completes Andy Warhol’s vision of Richard Attenborough & Michael Bennett's 1985 movie-musical classic A CHORUS LINE. Elizabeth Taylor stars as a madwoman in search of death in our special one nite 35mm screening of THE DRIVER’S SEAT – selected and introduced by BRUCE LABRUCE! Mental instability, sexual deviance, and a whole lot of smeared makeup: Giuseppe Patroni Griffi’s low budget arty film The Driver’s Seat (aka Identikit and Psychotic) shows Elizabeth Taylor giving a whole new meaning to a woman on the edge. Her completely mad character “Lise” travels to Rome in search of men for sex and then for…stabbing her with a knife. Based on the novella by Muriel Spark, this film is an overlooked affair complete with deranged performances, police investigators and even Andy Warhol as a British lord(!). It is without a doubt one in the Liz Taylor cannon of madness to know. Bruce LaBruce says, “The Driver’s Seat, bathed in a magical golden light, represents one of my favourite pieces of cinematography. Beyond that, the film seems totally prescient and relevant today, with its numerous cataclysmic terrorist events, and Taylor’s complaints of violation at the airport security check. It’s also one of the most complex feminist statements of the seventies, serving as a kind of allegory for a woman in search of her ultimate orgasm.” (Read his whole statement on The Driver’s Seat here). The Art Seen screening of The Driver’s Seat is held in conjunction with the Bruce LaBruce film retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art (April 23–May 2, 2015).

                    • Elaine Sturtevant - Die Kunst sich Kunst anzueignen

                      03:55

                      from KA21 / CastYourArt / Added
