A Film By Carolin Röckelein and Karin Dürr The prologue of the film is ZuZinMoe‘s interview with the 15 year old Chidwayan. Both of them come from Burma and have been living for years in Thailand on a rubbish dump that lays between the small town of Mae Sot and the boarder of Burma. The film launches without words into the life of these children and teenagers and through uncommented observation, opens up the possibility for the viewer to experience this place from their perspective. Camera I Editing I Directing: Carolin Röckelein and Karin Dürr Translation: Ko Tun Music: Michael Weilacher With: ZuZinMoe, Lenwe, Do Dschana U, Chidwayan Produced by: Netzwerk Gipfelfilm Supported by: Freie Universität Berlin, DAAD - German Academic Exchange Service

Okay, so this is an assignment for my anthropology class. My team was required to buy a happy meal burger (plain; no condiments) + fries. We have to leave it out in room temperature and take pictures of it every day until February 28. I'm not sure what to expect, but here are my findings so far!

Kudumistöö is the Estonian word for a piece of knitting, and 'Kudumistöö' is an anthropological exploration of four homes in Tallinn, Estonia. We explore the many individual threads that, when knitted together, create this space we refer to as 'home'. Anthropology Professor Triinu Mets guides us through the streets of Tallinn in search for these threads that at first seem to be predominantly material; rooms are painted red, feet are moulded in concrete, wall paper cut into animal shapes in an attempt to conquer and personalise a space. Yet in the end it becomes evident that 'home' is not a tangible material object easily captured by a camera, for it is more than just the amalgamation of the things within a flat. As Ulle reminds us towards the end: "I can't take it to the grave with me". Louisa and Martin are both students at the University of Cambridge, where Louisa studies Anthropology and Martin wishes he did. This film came about due to an accidental encounter of two like-minded people in Tallinn Summer 2010. This is their entry to Watersprit - Cambridge International Student Film Festival 2011.

Northern Romania is a place where folk traditions are still very much alive. Around Christmas, New Year, and Epiphany, traditions called "Datinilor de Iarna" or "Winter Season Traditions" are still popular among the rural people. In Sighetul Marmaţiei, there's an annual celebration and a big parade, with masked people dressing up in grotesque costumes made from animal skins. Folkdancers from all over Maramureş participate in the parade. http://www.maccusfoto.nl License: Creative Commons BY-NC-SA http://www.creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/
