              This is a video of the memorial service for John Kimber, which was held on Feb. 17, 2013. It is 90 minutes long and includes a photo montage video created by his granddaughter, Suzanne, as well as an appearance by John on Candid Camera. John Evans Kimber, Jr., Ph.D. (“Jack”), of Pittsburg and Fremont, CA, died peacefully in his sleep January 18, 2013.  He was 87.  Born in Santa Barbara and raised in Fremont, Jack attended Niles Grammar School and Washington High School.  Joining the U.S. Navy at age 17 to serve in the Pacific during World War II, he later earned a B.S. and Ph.D. from MIT.  He was the son of prominent poultry breeder John Kimber and (Mary) Alice Barnes Kimber. Dr. Kimber was on the faculties of Univ. of Nebraska, Utah State Univ., and other colleges as a math and computer programming professor.  Since the Vietnam War era, he was a peace activist and champion for such causes as homelessness.  He had a wide-ranging intellect that led him to study many disciplines; he enjoyed art and music as well as hiking, biking and swimming.  Dr. Kimber first married Marion Esther Burnham, who died in 1978; they had four children.  In 1991 Dr. Kimber married Galina Lebedeva, a native of Russia.  He is survived by Galina, his children Betty Goebel, Anne, Susan and Don Kimber, four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his only brother, Art Kimber (Joan), well known in the Fremont business and cultural community.  To request a DVD copy of this video, please contact Randy Graham at: dingopanga@gmail.com
