from Martin Hans Schmitt Added 32 3 0

The 56-minute documentary “Moon Shots” shows impressive ultra-HD photographs of the moon shots and tells thrilling stories from the Apollo era. Using 3D photo animations and film and sound documents from the NASA archives, the documentary accompanies the journey of the Apollo astronauts from the launch pad at Cape Kennedy to the summit of the Hadley moon massif. The audience experiences panorama pans across the lunar surface as if they would stand on the lunar soil themselves and watch scientific experiments on the moon from close up. Orbital flights above the earth and the backside of the moon show the space flights from the perspective of the astronauts. The audience is up close - as if they were astronauts themselves. “Moon Shots” also shows the immense technical challenges, which engineers and astronauts had to overcome on their journeys in the vacuum called space. Not a single Apollo mission was without a glitch; each moon shot calls for dramatic decisions from both astronauts and the flight controllers on earth.

Stranded in a distant solar system, a lone astronaut reflects on his own past and the legacy of the space program that preceded him. My entry into the NASA Cinespace competition 2015. The project was originally for a school art course but I have re-edited and adapted it here to meet the requirements of the NASA challenge which I believe this piece is quite fitting for. I wrote and directed the short and also created the costumes and sets, as well as editing it and creating all the visual effects. Software used: Blender, After Effects, Premiere, Audacity, SpeedGrade Uses clips courtesy of NASA and The White House. Written & Directed by Ben Jewer Starring Huw Smallwood Production Assistants - Erin Karn & James Snowden Set Electronics - Tom Darlison Visual Effects - Ben Jewer Music - "Beyond Tomorrow" by Dan Phillipson (premiumbeat.com)

Personal project that I have been working on in the evenings for the past few weeks during the evenings. Taken in the Science Museum in London. I'm trying to make this as accurate as a production environment would. I intend to take this model to a detail where it would act as a seamless digital replacement. Modelled in Maya

Since 1934, the well-worn stage at The Apollo Theater has been one of the world's greatest launching pads for phenomenal talent, catapulting the likes of James Brown and Ella Fitzgerald to international stardom. Thousands of contestants audition each year, with the hopes of facing the famously mean Apollo audience, described "like a bunch of pit bulls eating raw meat." Judged by the length of their cheers — or the depths of their boos — these contestants put more than their pride on the line in the hope of becoming famous. In An Apollo Legend, we meet two such hopefuls, who share their beliefs about their own talent, as well as their determination to succeed. What does it take to get up on that stage? And could just facing the crowd be success in itself? An Apollo Legend is a product of the MediaStorm Storytelling Workshop, where participants work alongside MediaStorm staff to create an intimate, character-driven documentary in just one week.
