And so....it begins. While the late September fizzler left me salivating and cursing NOAA last weekend, this weekend produced big time. The Cole Creek snotel was reading 16 or so inches when I awoke Friday morning. Being long on time (I work 4-tens) and short on common sense (as many who know me will attest) I pulled out the biggest rock boards I could find and headed up to the hill to see what I could ski. http://bcbuzzards.com/2013/10/06/so-now-on-wards/

The Rocklands has some truly awe-inspiring lines and the good news is that most of them have glory jugs at the top! This video shows Arc-teryx and Five Ten athlete Mina Leslie-Wujastyk climbing four of the best that are on offer. Problems: A Splash of Red 7C+ (Sassies) Cedar Spine 7B+ (Roadcrew) Macho King 7C+ (Fields of Joy) Tomorrow I Will Be Gone 7C (Roadcrew) Mina had wanted to do this last problem since trying it in 2011 but could never quite get the crux move to the arete. On our very last day Mina had an epiphany and tried some cunning beta that involved using intermediates as holds. As you can see she ended up a very happy girl and flew home the next day.
