This experimental video work was created for the Vimeo weekend challenge! it is a work about the past, about once treasured moments captured in 8mm celluloid.... from working a lot with archived materials, the moments which i find the most captivating are those where everyday activities take place, celebrations, day to day jobs, entertainment, basically any moment where people are captured moving or working. These moments at the time where perhaps recorded on a family holiday, or at a celebration, simply recording what was happening at the time, to remember at a later date.. now they take on a completely new meaning, a new sort of poetry is created (for me as a voyeur anyway).. These movements where meant to be seen in the future, primarily by the family who shot the images, but now they still survive and we can look back on these moments with as much interest and fondness.. we can relate to them? for me it raises a lot of question not just about human nature and the past, but also about how we see ourselves in a future where we no longer exist, it questions digital mediums and how we record our lives now, no longer do we take care to record moments because of cost or filmic material, we blast through memory cards at an astonishing rate, whether we record ourselves twerking upside down against doors or record our cats and dogs daydreaming, i feel like the moments we believe the most important can be lost so easily, or perhaps even overlooked? so this is a work not only about literal movement but also the movement of humans and technology, what will they see of us when we no longer exist.. interesting and deep topics! thanks vimeo weekend challenge!! i would love to know your thoughts? all sounds were created by my good self, including the highland dancing soundtrack :3 best wishes!

    What are Tags?

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
