SUNO DEKO - Bluets Ad hoc nostalgia at its best. The weekend of May 25th and 26th was, and will forever be without question the magnum opus of live musical performances I have, and will from this point forward, witness. It behooves me to explain that I shot this hurriedly over two days with a dying battery, and sub-capacity memory card (hence the abrupt end). I had come ill-prepared for the magnitude of what FORM:Arcosanti was to be, and while running out of time, haphazardly decided to memorialize what has become this array of clips set to SUNO DEKO's "Bluets". It is hurried, hackneyed, and pretty poorly shot, but I found myself recently desiring to make public my adoration of this event. To give my thanks. I happened upon the three-day festival about three days before it took place and having so desperately wanted to see How To Dress Well live, made the 70 mile trek to the town of Mayer, Arizona where the festival was held. I'll forego any ornament and state that during the two days I was able to attend, deep within me, reconstituted a faith in genuine expressionism for the sake of enjoyment. The small group of people that attended- which couldn't have been any more than 80 or so, (residents of Arcosanti notwithstanding); were a genuine bunch, caring deeply about artistry and the protection of its authenticity. The venue of course, was breathtaking: the open air amphitheater being the precipice of 'arcology' , making for a night wading through the sonic ocean that is Hundred Waters all the more reverential, as above shone the beauty of countless stars unencumbered by city lights. The festival itself remained completely devoid of advertisement we've all come to expect at musical gatherings, save a small , non-intrusive sign atop the table where Ole Smoky Moonshine mixed any selection of three drinks, or handed you a box of water- without limit and cost. The residents themselves even laboriously made hot dogs, hamburgers, and veggie burgers for those in attendance on Sunday, again, free of charge. I'll suffice to say that I will not soon forget the feeling of warmth, and the freedom of its expanse I experienced. To be in such close proximity to artistry of this caliber- the grounds, and the artists therein. It is unfathomable, still. To Hundred Waters, (and to a slightly lesser extent Magical Cloudz, Eskmo, How To Dress Well, Suno Deko, and Julie Byrne), I am forever indebted. Thank you.

I took 360 footage of a festive event and injected it with my own personal blend of morose curiosity. The Global Stilt Congress (and the culminating performance called "Legislation") had its own beautiful vision and for this video I took a great deal of poetic license, so for letting me do that I'm hugely thankful to Flam Chen and the Carpetbag Brigade Physical Theater.
