A collaboration between Ricardo Imperial and Amy Kells for the LG Art of the Pixel competition-- where 9 of the top art schools in North America competed for $10,000 and a trip to New York. Students of Laguna College of Art + Design, in Laguna Beach, California, Ricardo and Amy are in their junior year and created this video with a DSLR camera and four hands, and Adobe Premier. Their hand-crafted problem solving created 25 tangible type treatments and made every piece purely by hand. There were no digital manipulations besides the editing of footage, and minimal color correction. The Story: To emphasize the importance of black, white, and color all working together. Within the full spectrum of color exists a full spectrum of emotion, and, it’s this connection that enables the viewer to feel rather than just see and elevates an image into a work of art. We all experience positive and negative events - this piece conveys those experiences in a way that everyone could relate to. By connecting each color with an emotion, it reminds all viewers to understand that life will have its negative moments, but, without them we wouldn't appreciate the positive ones. Just as black and white add dimension to an image, darkness and light add meaning to life. Contributions: Ricardo Imperial - type treatments, director of photography, editor, co-writer (dribbble.com/imperialdesign) Amy Kells - paintings and illustrations, co-writer, voice over, model (cargocollective.com/amykells) Chad Crouch aka Podington Bear - music (www.podingtonbear.com)

LISTEN WITH HEADPHONES FOR BETTER EFFECT. Student project while at college 2009 The theme of the project is about the movement of the body and the issues surrounding that of LGBT. This was a very expressive project and my first experimentation into film and the theme of LGBT. The project consists of taking away identity as a male or female and leaving the human form as a result. This was a representation of how our despite our gender's and sexuality or otherwise we are all the same as a conclusion. The film takes this further and represents stages of a gender-less form's life and what the result can be of judgement and violence and how it is negative. This is expressed through emotion and human body with the figures face taken away completely by bandages. Photography, Prints, Film, and a sketchbook were included in this project.

I recently did a collaboration project with a fellow student. The main goal was to not work towards an end result, but to just go with it and create. That is how I ended up collaborating on this wall painting/3D piece with my fellow classmate.

                • Real Life Self Portrait

                  from Jessie MIT / Added

A Self Portrait video made for Bachelors Certificate of Visual Arts, MIT. I decided to create a Real Life Self Portrait, having moving images of my daily life and what I do in my spare time - straighten my hair, clean my room, read manga, watch anime. Camera handling techniques and Premiere effects used: pan, cuts, close-ups, mid-shots, high angles, non diagetic sound, etc. I found this project difficult due to the fact all camera handling and editing was done myself (includes: tripod). No extra help. I wanted to do this on my own since this is a real life self portrait so I have to be realistic. The scenery took place in my room during the day since that is mostly where I am. Producer/Editor: Jessie MIT Tools: Canon EOS 500D, Tripod, Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 CREDITS Music: Awolnation - Sail (DJ Slink Remix) Short Video Clip (at end): Fairy Tail AMV- Never Surrender
