1. Capturing a Wild Idea

Done for the first project of the second year of art school, semester 1. The project guidelines were that we had to make a movie in the style of a videogame, either as a machinima or with game-style elements. My short animated film portrays the concept of getting an idea and developing it through the style of a Pokemon battle. [This is still somewhat incomplete, and I may upload the finished version in the future] Inspired by Pokemon battles from the gameboy series, and also a gif created by an unknown artist commonly referred to as 'political pokemon'. (If anyone knows the original creator, please let me know and I'll provide a link.) Made using PhotoShopCS5 and iStopmotion. Concept, art, characters, sfx © Kit Richardson, 2011 Original battle style and animation © Pokemon, Nintendo, Game Freak Music and sfx © Nintendo, Game Freak

This is the third video in the trilogy Silence, Sound, and Song. Statement: To err is to be human. We all make mistakes in life, forget where we are, and get lost in our environment. Our sense of self can be jeopardized, and we don’t know how to relieve our souls from what we put our bodies through. It is important to remember where you came from and where you’re going. Our perceptions of ourselves may become skewed at times, and we may forget why we should strive for anything. But to move on, we must reflect on who we are, what we have accomplished, and how we have grown. We are supposed to worry, and fear, and love and hate and emote, because it allows us the recognition that we’re living. My video pieces examine my personal struggles within these past two years, and how I almost lost something very precious to me: music. Spending a traumatizing freshman year at music school before I came here almost deteriorated my love for music, and therefore an enormous part of my identity. I felt lost, powerless, and scared. Since coming here I have redefined myself and have been able to confront the issues that stole my passion and channel them into pieces that speak with silence, sound, and song.

This video was created in March 2014 as an experiment. Merging the concepts of the perspective of a town fox whilst paying homage to Bladerunner within the soundtrack - created by Scott Wanstall. Video and editing done by Chelsea Rodger. This was my 1st real attempt of a time based piece and using premier pro. I am aware there are flaws but i enjoyed the process none the less. The title is also a quote from Bladerunner.

We had to make a poster in the form of a video. I picked Hellraiser because it's my favourite horror movie and I love Clive Barker's art. I made it all by myself in 2 days with no budget and a crappy cam, but it's done with a lot love and blood. Hellraiser, it will tear your soul apart.
