This is the first group of selects from this 110 minute film documents the unseen stories of women working to end AIDS in the U.S. and in Africa, where the crisis is far from over. These are mothers and daughters --- wives, artists, and prison inmates, each struggling to overcome immense personal loss and the ongoing invisibility and stigma that continues to threaten their lives and communities. We follow three generations of women from across the globe as they transform into powerful grassroots organizers, healthcare professionals, and community leaders whose contribution to AIDS Activism, HIV prevention and the development of infrastructures to facilitate access have been essential to slowing the epidemic. Yet their contributions have been un-reported, un-acknowledged for almost forty years. These stories need to be told, and learned from --- for the epidemic to end.

http://www.bloodwatermission.com/aids Over 33 million people in the world are infected with HIV/AIDS, and 2/3 of them live in Sub-Sarahan Africa. But because of the barriers of education and understanding, many of us don't know anyone affected by this disease. For those living with HIV/AIDS, drinking contaminated water opens the door to opportunistic infections in an already weakened immune system. This direct link between AIDS and water launched the dual purpose of Blood:Water Mission: clean blood, free from HIV/AIDS and clean water, free from disease. While there is no one-size-fits-all solution to AIDS, we are working through our partners to address the local gaps in HIV/AIDS programs implementing effective and sustainable solutions including education, treatment and support. Through our partnership in several communities, we have been able to walk alongside many living positively and get to know their stories. We now invite you to know them too. Here are a few inspiring people we've met along the way that we hope will help you be able to say "I Know Someone." http://www.bloodwatermission.com/i-know-someone.php

MSF begans using antiretroviral drugs, or ARVs, to treat people living with HIV/AIDS in Malawi in 2001. Now, a program that initially served 500 patients serves 18,000 and stands as proof that a large-scale antiretroviral program is possible in precarious situations.
