TelescopeMan demonstrates a fake alignment on a Meade ETX125PE- using the 497 hand controller. This technique can be used to align a goto scope before the stars are visible. This same technique will work on any of Meade's scopes using the 497 controller such as theLX90 model with either the LNT module, or GPS; and a similar technique can be used with many other brands of GoTo telescopes.

Astronomers using ESO’s leading exoplanet hunter HARPS have today announced more than fifty newly discovered planets around other stars. Among these are many rocky planets not much heavier than the Earth. One of them in particular seems to orbit in the habitable zone around its star. This ESOcast we look at how astronomers discover these distant worlds and what the future may hold for finding rocky worlds like the Earth that may support life. I have been watching time lapse videos lately and have become inspired to try them for myself. This was not only my first attempt at a night-time time lapse but my first ever time lapse. I shot this with nothing more than my camera and tripod. Constructive criticism is always welcome if not encouraged. Thanks you for watching.

Hello everybody !!! I just came back to Brussels. I had to stay in my office late tonight to do some "coming back work". When I was finished, I watched out the window and saw the beautiful moon greeting me and welcoming me back. He shone just in between the Cathédrale Saint Michel and the tower of the City Hall ... who seemed to have been trying out various evening gowns. So I just stayed at my window and contemplated ... and then felt I want to share this moment with you. In my mind Beethoven's Romance for Violin and Orchestra Nr. 1 op 40 G-dur was playing. Somehow, I always associate it with the moon. A few years back, I lived on the top of a building under a roof. I loved to lie in bed and watch the moon out of the window listening to this music. So enjoy both the beautiful music and the sights of this inspiring and welcoming Brussels moon. This video is especially dedicated to my mother who always sends me love and greetings with the moon when I am traveling the world :-) Christoph (5/09/2011)
