Please help a starving artist! If you like this video, show your appreciation with the Tip Jar below! Follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/alantravers_ My girlfriend Dee joked that she has made her legendary chocolate biscuit cake so many times now that the ingredients could make it by themselves... We made this to promote Dee's entry in Chef Factor, a great Irish Cookery Competition run by Cully & Sully. If you like this video, please help her get to the final by voting for Dee's Legendary Chocolate Biscuit Cake here now: http://cheffactor.ie/content/competition-entries/dees-legendary-chocolate-biscuit-cake EDIT: Sorry, voting is now closed. Thanks to all who voted (and all who tried after the deadline too!) You can see another edit of this video without the Chef Factor propaganda here: https://vimeo.com/45446234 A first attempt at stop-motion, and it took a full week (2,485 photos and 2 panning videos) to shoot and edit. Shot on a Canon 550D and edited using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop and a hell of a lot of coffee! Music: Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)

One of the true joys of watching movies is seeing--hearing!--the work of the Foley artist. And one of the joys of Vimeo is putting to use some of the resources one finds scattered around the Internet that help one compensate for ineptitude. In this case, Soundsnap, Freesound, a trial DivX video editor, Windows Movie Maker, and the truly awesome--that is, awe-inspiring--Audacity. After only three days of temper tantrums and tears, I was able to produce this five-plus minutes of arrant nonsense.

Pretty much an experiment with overlaying one video with another. I also wanted to see if I could make a figure emerge out of darkness. Easy for some, maybe, but not for this kid. The woman was one lovely girl before I went to work on her. And if she learns that I used her stunning and compelling photo without her permission--I won't be smart alecky--I hope she forgives me. She's the most gracious woman I know, and I'm counting on that. (The poem is by Arthur Symons.)

I like buses in Manhattan more than the subway. For one thing, you can see more. A couple of times recently while riding the bus I took a few minutes of video footage simply because I could. “Mommy, why is that homeless man holding that thing against the window?” That thing was my Flip. I think a lot of videos begin with, “What can I do with this clip?” (Tacita Dean has said as much.) I started thinking about Marcel Broodthaer’s “A Voyage on the North Sea,” and this is what came out. It was said of "Waiting for Godot" that it is a play in which nothing happens--twice. In this video, nothing happens seven times. The video part is pure WMM, and the sound was mixed in Audacity, several bits from Freesound and a song ripped from YT, the result then imported into WMM.

                      What are Tags?

Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a video of your Hawaiian vacation might be tagged with "Hawaii," "beach," "surfing," and "sunburn."
