Just a quick and dirty demo of the Bricks all connected and firing. It is built from two Sound Bricks, a Light Brick, and a 512 Display Brick. I don't know why I call them Bricks. Built from recycled oak, cedar, bamboo and steel. The white plexi panel I had to purchase new. Audio is from 2 arduino based instruments. One is based on the Auduino project, and the other is built from the Mozzi library and chunks from the Pi synth (Standuino project, now Bastl Instruments ). I like making noisey blinky things. The Light Brick has several modes. It reads 7 frequency bands of audio information and will create a "tunable" single color for all 512 pixels, which is volume sensitive, it can also create a EQ band display, also adjustable. It is additionally built to take natve USB speed serial infor from a correposnding Processing sketch running on a seperate computer, in my case a Mac that lets me send anything via Syphon to it... so it essentailly acts as a low-resolution display. The last mode drives a VGA output, generating its own sync signal, and creating pulses of colorful horizontal roll patterns that are reactive to the audio input. This mode is a bit sensitive to the projector or monitor you hook it to, as the sync is a little sketchy. I will post a more complete demo video of all the modes here soon. If you want more info, contact me.

Camera and Editing: Sara Esteves Performance and Sound Mix: João Santos The Auduino is a sound synthesiser based on the Arduino platform. It works on all Arduinos running at 16MHz - everything from the original Arduino serial to the Arduino Mega. It uses granular synthesis techniques to generate a distinctive filter-sweep sound that had much more character than boring square waves. More info @ code.google.com/p/tinkerit/wiki/Auduino This version has an on/off power switch with a led, and another switch to change between two different scales.

Short test run of the combination of the soundBrick and a little VGA video "synth" I have been working on. The results so far seem quite encouraging.

Dia projector on a 50s cake plate. Follows an observer and produces 80′s type noises. Gets excited when more people are around and when one gets closer.
