    Aussie Farmers Foundation's grant assisted the Prevent Alcohol & Risk-related Trauma in Youth Program (P.A.R.T.Y) visit country Victoria. Youth traumatic injury through accidents and often through risky behaviour is addressed in Alfred Health’s P.A.R.T. Y program at The Alfred Hospital Melbourne. For country youth, there is the added dimension of farming accidents and higher incidents on country roads, hence Alfred Health’s application for funds to take their program out to the regions. It’s a big call to take a full day program with trauma medical specialists, paramedics, physios and nurses from ICU and trauma/burns units from the hospital and out to hundreds of secondary school youth and teachers. The $30,000 grant from our foundation assisted P.A.R.T.Y go out to Shepparton, Warrnambool and Bendigo and we joined them in Warrnambool to show you how, what is considered a world's-best program, works.       Learning new skills through employment gives meaning, purpose, social experience and mental stimulation, and employees at Orana's Meningie Nursery in South Australia were given a boost when they were given a grant from Aussie Farmers Foundation in 2013. Orana’s nursery employs adults with a disability and it supplies native plants to local communities for replanting programs. Growing high numbers uses a lot of water and the grant upgraded the irrigation system which will allow growing to increase to 200,000 plants a year.         With one in ten Australians in need of food relief and country Victoria having few places to turn to, one organisation has stepped up to assist. FareShare, who cooks surplus food saved from landfill into healthy meals, have increased their capacity through a brand new kitchen which launched in April 2013. They are now sending out meals to rural areas and in this video see the journey from kitchen to plate, sourced and cooked in Melbourne then on the road to the Bendigo region.
