Using travel as a catalyst, Aaron Fell-Fracasso’s upcoming exhibition has a clear connection to the Australian landscape. With an emphasis on spatiality and a bright inventive palette, he hints at a familiar landscape vernacular without resorting to a representational bias. By employing pared-back compositional devises the physicality of paper and colour become the primary concern in this body of work. Literally drowning the paper with water and paint Fell-Fracasso then rips and tears to build painted collages. These playful and painterly torn elements, forcefully split the pictorial plane, allowing the paint itself takes on narrative possibilities. This exhibition coincides with the re-opening of a larger gallery space at The Egg & Dart. The Egg & Dart 15th May – 6th June, 2015

"Petrichor" is a short film following the making of Australian ceramic artist Shannon' Garson's latest exhibition. "Petrichor" articulates landscape using domestic pots as vessels for drawings about the strange beauty and wonder to be found in the marginalized eco-systems of the littoral zone. Details of shorelines, rock pools and coastal wallum scrub are revealed in the sgraffito and oxide drawings that crawl over the surface of these delicately thrown porcelain vessels.
