    • My Day in Austin

      from Cinetics Added 32 0 0

Andy Gonzalez-Bendiksen from 3orless.com took our Axis360 motion control kit for a spin to capture the eclectic art scene, food trucks, and world famous 6th Street that keeps Austin weird. We’ll let Andy explain… Our day of shooting Cinetics’ Axis360 product commercial eerily mimicked the day of our fictional traveler in the story. Not just in the obvious ways, such as waking up before the crack of dawn to catch the sunrise as we walked up Congress bridge, but more with the using of Cinetics’ excellent product itself. When pitching the story to Cinetics, our main point was to show that this product is easy to use and that it is portable. Luckily for us, no “movie magic” was necessary to show this. Sure, we were a film crew moving around Austin in actual vehicles instead of walking… But the set-ups, take-downs, and carrying of equipment was very much how our travel-blog expert shows. I was quickly impressed with how easy and effortless it was to move the film equipment around between sets. And the set-ups were always minimal; By the time our lighting and blocking would be set, so too was the Axis360, ready for the shot. Ultimately, not only was the product easy to use, but the shots we ended up with were even prettier than I had imagined while writing the script. Seeing those finished time-lapses in the video made our endlessly busy day worth it.

        • La Isla Verde

In February 2015, I traveled to the beautiful Island of La Palma to shoot a timelapse nature short film for the swiss travel agency Kuoni. The Island is located in the Atlantic ocean and part of the canary islands. La Palma is one of the youngest islands of its group, showing clear signs of recent volcanic activity. It is literally edged with craters and remains of volcanic flows. Compared to the other islands it features the highest amount of forests, which is why people often refer to it as "La Isla Verde" - the green island. With a breathtaking mountain range going up to 2426 meters above sea level, a star light reserve and many intact nature reserves, the island presented itself as a nature filmmakers dream. With this short film, I hope to raise awareness for the beautiful nature and landscape concentrated on this rocky spot in the middle of the ocean. Credits & Technical Details: Director, DoP: Lou Goetzmann 2nd Camera Op, Editor: Timon Oberholzer Sondtrack: "Reverie of Hope" by Ryan Taubert / licensed on musicbed.com https://instagram.com/lougoetzmann/ http://www.lougoetzmann.ch/ Shot on a Canon 5D Mark III and 6D with L lenses. Motion controlled timelapses were shot using the Cintetics Axis360 Pro Slider and the Emotimo TB3 camera head. Static timelapses were done with Magic Lantern.

This video is for Elly's one year birthday. They grow so fast. I filmed most of this run and gun style, a lot of it with a GoPro and the rest with a Canon 7D. The indoor clips filmed with the GoPro resulted in pretty poor quality. The Hero3 just does not have that great of a dynamic range for low light. However, it's so easy to grab and use that I tend to have it around more often. Next year, I will be using my DSLR more, especially when filming inside. I will also try to incorporate more motion control with my Axis360 to steady the shots. This has been very hard because a 1 year old is on the move, but I'll get it done.
