song: "babe" - evenings There is something beautiful about the baking process. The way flour feels in your hands or the sound of eggs cracking on the edge of a bowl. Baking is a gathering of interesting materials, a mixed medium art piece of sorts, that ends in a cake instead of a canvas. Thank you for your compliments. We have not been able to respond to comments for some reason (still trying to figure it out....) but here is some general info. We shot this with a Canon 5D and 7D with EF 50mm f1.4 USM and EF 24-105mm f4L IS. We edited in Final Cut Pro and colored in Color and FCP. We wrote out the titles and edited them in Photoshop. And yes, the beet cake is delicious!

A delicious treat, whipping up some Scones in 90 seconds with a bit of pizazz late into the evening. So many variations... I prefer mine with chocolate, pecans, and of course, coffee! One camera, one lens, a monopod, tripod, a book and a ladder. Canon 60d Sigma 30mm f1.4 Audio (title): Mae West from the 1933 classic "I'm No Angel" Music: Pitbull - Come N Go Recipe: (I approximate with a few things so here is my best guess) 1 cup of flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, a little salt, 2 tablespoons butter, 1 egg, 3 tablespoons whipping cream, around 1/2 cup chocolate chunks and 1/2 cup pecans, bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for around 18-22 min (go by how it looks - a bit golden on the edges). Enjoy!

"Make life sweeter... eat dessert first." This is the motto of Joanne Chang, pastry chef/owner of Flour Bakery in Boston. She has written a new book about her favorite dessert recipes. Working with Joanne and her staff was a breeze. And the fringe benefits were SWEET! I was fed sample treats throughout the day during the shoot! The book is called “Flour” and this is her story. I returned to Flour Bakery to shoot a few extra scenes for the film. These scenes show Joanne baking her favorite treat: the pain aux raisins brioche. My reward for coming back? A fresh, warm brioche filled with plump raisins and drizzled with sugary creamy icing. Take a look at the glee on Jo’s face as she bites into one! Follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/alantravers_ My girlfriend Dee joked that she has made her legendary chocolate biscuit cake so many times now that the ingredients could make it by themselves... We made this to promote Dee's entry in Chef Factor, a great Irish Cookery Competition run by Cully & Sully. If you like this video, please help her get to the final by voting for Dee's Legendary Chocolate Biscuit Cake here now: http://cheffactor.ie/content/competition-entries/dees-legendary-chocolate-biscuit-cake EDIT: Sorry, voting is now closed. Thanks to all who voted (and all who tried after the deadline too!) You can see another edit of this video without the Chef Factor propaganda here: https://vimeo.com/45446234 A first attempt at stop-motion, and it took a full week (2,485 photos and 2 panning videos) to shoot and edit. Bread goes back nearly 30,000 years and has been present in the daily lives of most of us. It is the most basic of foods but also one of the most difficult to get right. This film is the story of one mans attempt to reconnect with the humble loaf by founding a community bakery and cookery school dedicated to producing the perfect loaf and sharing the knowledge on how to do so with those who are willing to learn.
