Anderson and Robson came to know the love and grace of Jesus in the midst of poverty, abuse, and sin. Now transformed, they’ve become beacons of that same love and grace in one of the most notorious favelas in Rio de Janeiro, The City of God. Director/DP/Editor: Cody Cuellar Made in 2006. A teenager struggles with his beliefs of religion and spirituality. A tragic incident in his life makes him question his own convictions. This is a short film I made a few years ago in highschool for a studio art class. We had 2 weeks to do it, and it was the first time I'd ever touched Final Cut (after years of Premiere Pro) and I've never gone back to Premiere since. It was filmed on the Canon XL-2. www.codycuellar.com

Thanks to the generosity of Randy Waters at Freeminds.org "Belief" now has its own website. Please visit www.beliefdocumentary.com for a lot more information about this project, downloads, and other cool stuff! I'm very excited to finally bring you the full version of Episode 1. Since each episode is meant to be experienced as a whole I have removed the separate sections that were here before. Much of those sections have been improved and a lot of important new sections have been added. This project is always in a constant state of evolution so I will continue to improve Episode 1 as I move on to bring you Episode 2. I have obsessed over every minute of video and tried hard to bring you an understanding of what it is like to be a Jehovah's Witness that is not yet available. I hope you enjoy and I look forward to discussing it with you. In preparation for DVD release I will be adding some more voice-overs in Spanish and English soon. Stay tuned... NOTE: This video is available to download at no cost to members of Vimeo (basic membership is free). You can also download Episode 1 at www.beliefdocumentary.com. Falun Gong also known as Falun Dafa is a traditional ancient Chinese spiritual practice for improving mind and body. It includes 5 exercises and books based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. The practice is introduced to the public in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi in China. In a very short time Falun Dafa becomes very popular in China and has the recognition of the government at that time. However, after the number of the people practice it becomes between 70 and 100 million people in 1999, the Chinese Communist Party bans Falun Gong and starts its brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. According to records of the Falun Gong information center http://www.faluninfo.net/ there are more than 3,000 practitioners killed in China so far, but the actual number is times higher. Tens of thousands are tortured in labor camps, jails, and special reeducation centers. Some of them are killed for their organs which are sold for transplantation. Despite the persecution, Falun Dafa is practiced in many countries now and millions of people are benefitted from it. The practice and its founder Mr. Li Hongzhi have received hundreds of awards. Mr. Li Hongzhi has been nominated several times for Nobel Peace Prize. All Falun Dafa materials are free at http://www.falundafa.org/ . The practice can also be learned at the practice sides in many cities around the world. It was very challenging to shoot this video, because of the light. It was changing every minute :). I also shot it with bad white balance, just forgot to change my preset 3200k WB for indoors. So I ended up with bluish cold white balance and had to do color correction. That was another challenge since my experience with color correction was 0. Now I find it interesting, so I will learn and do some more grading. Shot at the Dam square in Amsterdam Your feedback is welcome.
