1. David Cope's Five Songs for Soprano and Guitar, performed by Julia Callander and Alan Berman

Alan Duff Berman's videos: http://www.alanbermanmusic.com/abm_video.php This is a rehearsal of five haiku songs by California composer, cellist, and inventor of the Experiments in Musical Intelligence computer system, David Cope. The songs were published in 1976 and feature some very smart writing for the guitar that doesn't capitalize on the usual idiomatic elements non-guitarist composers fall back on (except for open strings, that is). Julia is superb with this repertoire and she is a joy to perform with. Come to our concert Saturday, 15 June 2013, at the Glendale Central Library Auditorium.

Video Brut, No light, No actors, No script. Tabula Rasa. Art video has moved from intimately observed and different intellectual readings of moving image, emotion, ideas, taboos to an almost indistinguishable 'version' of commercial video production. Home Service explores the personal, through documentation and reflection upon a given situation, edited, layered and sifted. It includes a performative core of cleaning a bathroom surrounded by the everyday objects and sounds from the location. What is seen and experienced is not that witnessed in Cinema Multiplexes or via CABLE TV. The struggle to make sense of our experiences or feelings is often corralled within a pre-mediated context presumed to offer a vision or modeled structure to reflect upon. Prodigal Son, Ineffectual Action, Guilty Party, International Rescue, Life Swapping or inheriting the mess of the past now present. It was shot in Burnham-on-Crouch Essex, December 2012. Thanks to Pamela Blank, UK Radio 3 (Benjamin Britten A Ceremony of carols Op.28 for boys' voices and harp - excerpts) & the congregation of All Souls Chapel, Burnham-on-Crouch, Midnight Mass December 2012.
