Ben is the co-founder of Loomio, a collaborative decision-making platform used by thousands of NGOs, community groups and social movements worldwide. Ben has an academic background in the evolution of collective intelligence, a practical background in grassroots community organising, and a passion for the potential of appropriate technology to bridge the gap between mobilisation and powerful collective action. He was closely involved with the Occupy movement in 2011, which exposed him to the massively empowering results of collaborative decision-making on a large scale and the possibility that online tools could support participatory democracy as part of everyday life.+ More details

“There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination. Living there, you’ll be free if you truly wish to be. If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it. Anything you want to, do it. Want to change the world? There’s nothing to it.” - Willy Wonka PARADISE Curated by: Colin Moore Featured Artists: Luis Lopa | Russell Leng | Aaron Moran | Colin Moore | Ben Knight It’s a backwards way of going about things; talking to artists about being in a show before having a theme or purpose to inspire them. And, it’s a fine tune knowing that certain individuals coming together in the same space can create something monumental – regardless of inspiration, theme or purpose. A pending trip to Hawaii inspired Colin Moore—curator of and contributor to the show—with the idea of exploring paradise. The idea took shape as he built out the roster of artists who would be showing, knowing that each would contribute a unique and personal approach to paradise, from a medium, colour and a content perspective. Based fully off an assumption that the waves, winds and expansive beaches would inspire him, Colin created a concept, and then began to build from there. Paradise is a complete experience and a place of contentment, not necessarily synonymous with luxury or idleness. Being able to define paradise is a personal experience, dependent on our ability to embrace the environment we’re in and connect with how it impacts and influences our senses. It requires our engagement and interaction to come to life in the settling, smile inducing moments we remember as ‘paradise found’. The show has been curated and the experience created to communicate each artist’s sense of paradise. The warm feeling of the tropics, Colin’s most recent experience of complete relaxation and inspiration, contrasts against the grey backdrop of Vancouver, our own intimate Eden. Similarly, the artists’ contributions to the show create an abstract experience of colors, mediums, modalities and context. Kick back and enjoy the soft swing of a hammock. Welcome to Paradise. Enjoy the visuals.+ More details
