For photos and more videos please visit http://www.mirukim.com/ On the recommendation of Richard Vine (Art in America), I was invited to participate in the Fokus Łódź Biennale 2010 (September 11–October 10) in Łódź, Poland. More than fifty artists around the world were invited to create works along Piotrkowska Street, the main commercial street considered to be the longest boulevard in Europe. One of the main venues along the street was an abandoned concert hall, with a main stage area and many rooms where artists created site-specific installations. In that building I discovered a basement, and staged a performance piece for the opening day of the Biennale. I named it The Mudbath for Thick Skin. The original idea was to do the piece much longer than 6 hours, but the basement was extremely cold, so the physical challenge, which was much beyond the mental one, became a time limitation for health reasons. The mud in the performance was taken from one of smaller local farms, which are now becoming obsolete due to large industrial farms. One could only watch the performance through a peephole on a wooden door that was bolted shut. The main part of my work at the Biennale was a public installation on Piotrkowska Street, on the corner of the very busy intersection with Zielona Street. An image from the series "The Pig That Therefore I Am" was mounted on a commercial lightbox display of 3.75 meters by 2.5 meters.

As curators of the 3rd Nordic Fashion Biennale, artist duo Sarah Cooper and Nina Gorfer explore the roots of Nordic fashion and take an unusual approach to the topic by telling its story visually. Over the past two years, Cooper and Gorfer have travelled throughout Iceland, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands to stage and photograph the work of 12 remarkable fashion talents. The resulting body of work is showcased in The Weather Diaries exhibition and a book of the same name, released by Gestalten in celebration of the biennale. The Weather Diaries exhibition is a prolific collaboration between some of the most gifted designers of the West Nordic Islands and Cooper & Gorfer. It is unique in its symbiosis of installation and narrative photographic imagery, taking you deep into the ingenuity of these three island nations where common is the hug of isolation. Aesthetic and metaphorical, it deflects the conventional rhetoric of fashion. Instead of seasonal trends, it explores the inspiration of creative minds, probes links to cultural identity, and scrutinizes the impact of the inescapable physicality of nature and weather. The Weather Diaries is on show at the Museum Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt from March 22 to June 22, 2014. Presenting: Barbara í Gongini (FO), Bibi Chemnitz (GL), Cooper & Gorfer (US, AT), Guðrun & Guðrun (FO), Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir a.k.a. Shoplifter (IS), Jessie Kleemann (GL), JÖR by Guðmundur Jörundsson (IS), Kría (IS), Mundi (IS), Najannguaq Lennert (GL), Nikolaj Kristensen (GL), Rammatik (FO) and STEiNUNN (IS). 2006 / Venice / Italy Video installation designed during the Resident Meta Workshop, organized by the EXYZT Collective for the 2006 Venice Architecture Biennale, in the French Pavillion. The concept is about being able to unfold space in video planes. The setup consists of 6 synchronized 3500lm beamers , positionned in 3D space, projecting on a scaffolding structure. All visuals were sound reactive, however the video is shot using a SLR @3FPS. This work has been done by the EXYZT collective, Frz Wunschel and Boris Edelstein - currently the developer of Modul8 VJ software. Audio soundtrack by LadyTron - we love you !

Hall of Fragments served as the entranceway to the 11th Venice International Architecture Exhibition Out There: Architecture Beyond Building. Description from lab.rockwell: Cinema constructs alternate architectural universes, places where designers can create environments that are free from the material and gravitational restraints of corporeal life. Bullets can be dodged, tall buildings leapt in a single bound, and houses dropped on unsuspecting witches with no damage to the young girl inside. This is truly architecture beyond building, a place bound only by imagination and the limits of projection technology. This interactive installation sets the stage for “Architecture Beyond Building” by exploring how cinema’s freedom from physical restraints influences perception and behavior. The immersive environment is built of images from iconic films, presented in a manner where the visitor’s behavior influences, or authors, the cinema experience: The motion of inhabitants dynamically affects the sound and imagery on two curving screens – in a real-time simulacrum of the feedback loop between cinema and architecture. As the visitors move between the screens, images from films will appear in a cascade of crystalline fragments. Based on algorithms coupled with motion sensor devices, a visitor can make film fragments grow into columns of three-dimensional textures, whose shapes may expand and overlap those from other visitors to create larger figures and infinite variations. Backstage, behind each screen, visitors find a pool of smaller screens monitoring the 30 film clips that feed the content of the installation. Each visit, each movement will create a distinctive architectural experience of a familiar set of images. Those architectures are not prescriptive. They instead offer opportunities. project site: http://lab.rockwellgroup.com/work/venice-biennale
