This is a wonderful video on the 'proper' method to cook championship ribs. The process is long, the video is not. I wrote, shot, edited and voiced the video... Oh, and I ate the ribs too! Enjoy the video shot in HD on the Sony PMW-EX1 and edited in Final Cut Pro and Motion.

If there is a thing called labor of love, I have to have had a dose of it this weekend. While everyone else was out golfing, boating and having fun, I sat behind this computer screen editing this video. I had the opportunity to try some new programs during this shoot with the EX-1. First, was SonicFire Pro 4.5. This program provides the various music cuts used in my video and allows me to alter the instruments to change the feel of the music. I hope you notice! Second, was the use of Apple's Color program. This is a most powerful colorization tool that darn-near takes a Ph.D. to learn. Finally, everything was shot on the Sony EX-1 HDCam, edited in Final Cut Pro 6.2, and written and voiced by yours truly. The whole thing took about thirty-hours to produce. But(t) the food was worth it! Phil

I took a few minutes to shoot the cooking of the turkey on the Big Green Egg. This was a lot of fun because I got to use both of my Canon cameras; the 7D on the Cinetics CineMoco motorized slider and my 5D MKIII with 16-35mm USM EF L2 lens. I hope your bird turned out as well as ours did. Happy Thanksgiving. Uncle Phil

I love to cook in my outdoor kitchen, but the other day I noticed droppings. Where were these coming from? Wait. I own a Sony PMW-EX1 with Interval Recording. I can setup the camera and film all night. So, that is what I did. I set the camera to shoot 1 frame a second and shooting through the window to the outdoor kitchen. I started recording at 9:30PM and ending the recording at 8:30AM, I found out my outdoor kitchen had uninvited guests! Needless to say, their membership has been revoked and their final meal was last night! Rats. Just when they were having a great time! Phil Hanna

For the past 15 years our friends, Paul and Kathy Bryant have been guests at our home for Thanksgiving. Over the years Paul has seen me cook a turkey with a blow torch, because the charcoal went out. One year we deep fried the bird and nearly caught the yard on fire! Now we use the Big Green Egg and the bird always comes out to perfection. This year was no different. I cook and Paul carves. I think this video was one of my best yet since getting the Letus Ultimate 35-mm adapter. The shots are neat because of the shallow depth of field. Everything was filmed with a Sony EX-1 in all natural light. This year had special meaning as it is the first Thanksgiving without my mother who passed away on October 20th. We miss her very much and I am certainly thankful to have had her as my mom. This film is dedicated to her.

I finally made one! I have wanted to attend this event for the longest time and finally this year was the year–and what a year it was! I always knew Egg folk were nice, but what a wonderful group of people. This one was Eggspecially good and the setting was wonderful. I had a chance to get some quick clips of the event and interview some folks. I hope you all had as great a time as I did. How many cooks? 128. How many attendees 327 Farthest away people, i.e. California to Maine? On website under who is coming...you'd have to google the distance. Probably either Canada (Little Steven), Maine (Mainegg), or Wisconsin (reelgem). Uncle Phil

I love to cook on my Big Green Egg. I also love to shoot and edit video. Last week I received my Letus Ultimate and have not had a great deal of time to learn the system. So, tonight while cooking steak on the Egg, I decided to practice depth of field techniques. I shoot with an EX-1 and used a Nikon 50mm lens on the Letus. Everything was edited in Final Cut Pro, and added a dash of Magic Bullet Looks. I promise the videos will get better and more interesting as time goes on. Phil

I am still experimenting with the Canon EOS 7d and tonight seemed like as good of opportunity as any to put together a little film. I cooked Shish Kabobs on the Big Green Egg cooker and filmed a scene or two. Everything was hand-held. Shot at 24p and ran through Apple's COLOR program for a bit of boost. Edited in Final Cut Pro. I don't know if you like the film, but I can tell you without a doubt, the Shish Kabobs were Academy Award Winners!
