There has been a lot of swan aggression down at brockholes recently. They are finding their pairs. Chases and fights are becoming regular occurrences on a daily basis. Abbottsbury Swannery on the Dorset coast is a haven for hundreds of mute swans to breed and nurture their young cygnets. At the time of visiting (August 2012) the cygnets were already quite large and just beginning to show some of their white feathers among the grey. They generally fledge in September. The sight of all these swans gathering at feeding time is amazing.

The Allen's migratory hummers have arrived in California. This makes hand feeding a lot more exciting. They are not intimidated by the resident Anna's and will share the feeder and my hands. The rules: -Video must be exactly one minute long -No camera movement (no panning, tilting, etc) -No editing whatsoever -Use original sound -Tag with '1 minute' -Have fun
