Filmmaker and public speaker Reggie Bullock is one of the most sought after motivational speakers in the United States, traveling to over 60 cities in the past two years. Reggie’s short film "A War For Your Soul" is a stirring, inspirational video for today’s generation. Over 10 million internet viewers have watched “A War For Your Soul” in 2 years. The video has garnered praise from mayors, city leaders, youth and civic organizations and almost every major country around the world, sparking dialogue in encouraging adults to play a more active role in educating children. On Oct. 14th, Popular radio host Michael Baisden said "This is a must see film". Reggie has received the "key to the city" award from the cities of Macon GA., Riviera Beach Fl. and Corpus Christi TX. Reggie is currently active as a noted speaker, conducting speaking engagements throughout the country. For speaking engagements contact www.warforyoursoul.com or reggie.bullock@warforyoursoul.com This video was created to inspire young at-risk African-Americans not to fall prey to some of the problems they face in society. The "Master of Darkness" represents that abstract concept of evil that has the potential to reside in the consciousness of mankind. The use of the images of Richard Pryor and NAS, were used to show how we have publicly displayed the "N" word over the course of time. Richard Pryor, before his death, had gone on record to publicly denounce his use of the word, and the Rapper NAS ( one of the few socially conscious rappers ) intentions of wearing the jacket had nothing to do with the glorification of the word. I have enjoyed some of Pryor's masterful story telling and I have also enjoyed some of the thought provoking music from NAS. This video should not to be used to divide people (Black & White). This video should not be used to criticize all aspects of hip-hop culture. This video should not be used to allow the rest of society to escape from their responsibility, to help with financial & academic support. If used properly, this video will allow our youth to see some of the horrific conditions that their ancestors fought through and some of the horrific conditions they face today. An extensive commentary about the film can be seen at www.warforyoursoul.com **THIS VIDEO IS NOT FOR SALE & I AM NOT ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR THE FILM, I ONLY WANT THE MESSAGE TO REACH AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT ANY HIDDEN POLITICAL OR FINANCIAL AGENDA. A short film directed by Matthew J Watkins featuring Lucy McLauchlan's improvised painting process and the harvesting of urban detritus. Tacit was filmed between locations in Birmingham and Walsall Art Gallery. The soundtrack was improvised and recorded by McLauchlan and Watkins using a circuit bent broken radio and a 'prepared' piano; modified using found objects (including screws, bolts, erasers and ornaments) and played 'after hours' in the reception of Birmingham's Custard Factory. Didn't have a video camera so everything was shot in stills. 'Tacit' received a special mention at the Babelgum Metropolis Art Prize in New York 2009 and was shown on a big screen in Times Square. Thanks to Rich Coldicott for helping with the photography.

We were supremely honored to have Godspeed You! Black Emperor give us their (exceedingly rare) blessing to shoot their BottleTree set. True to form, it was epicly long and we won't present it in its entirety but we hope you enjoy this selection. For the uninitiated, GY!BE is an instrumental Canadian experimental/post-rock band from Montreal that spent most of the past decade on hiatus until finally getting back together a few years ago. They have been hugely influential both as Godspeed and through their members' various side projects.

Another test transfering animation from Softimage to Thea Render, this time with Lagoa particles. Some liberal use of FX Nut's save rendermesh plugin to get the particles across as mesh data is a big help. This fact obviously limits the amount of particles that it is practical to transfer. Still quite handy though until another solution presents itself. I tried a bit of fairly dense and strong displacement on the spheres and still had quite decent render times until the particle count got too high. The simulation all goes a bit floaty half way through but it was just a case of emit and go. Not too much preperation went into that. Full quality still is available here: http://abstractonion.com//attachments/Image/Gallery/Spawn.jpg More frames to follow... Softimage Thea Render

A little experiment in getting ICE strands over from Softimage to Thea render. I made this guy a few years ago when Phil's ICE pack first came out by using the verlet strands compounds. Seemed like it was time he got a proper(ish) render. The new extrude geometry along strand compound in Softimage 2012 has made getting them out a lot easier. Rendered with just a sun and a HDRI for reflections using TR1. Sub-surface is faked with a medium material. EDIT: The twitching of the strands on the arms is a mystery to me. If anyone knows of a possible solution Mopman would be very gratefull. Largely inspired by Rob Chiu and Chris Hewitt's titles for OFFF New York 2007. (I chose to do something different with the sound/music though, and the visual material is more homogenous/limited, it was all shot on one day, in more or less the same location). Shot in Birmingham, UK March 2013 Photography: Alan Dolhasz and Ed Lawes Sound recordist: Alan Dolhasz (some camera sound was used too, but layered on top of better quality audio).
