The 11th movement of the Stabat Mater by Antonio Bononcini, performed by the Scholars Pro Musica at St. Peter's, Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, on the 2nd and 3rd November 2013. Translation: Let me get wounded with his wounds, let me get drunk by the cross and your son's love. Inflamed and on fire by you virgin, may I be defended on the day of judgment. This movement is very Italian, with the voices praying fervently for salvation, while the strings have the task of portraying the flames of judgment with their furiously fast movements.

Translation: Let me be gurded by his cross, protected by his death, cherished by his grace. This is the alternate setting for soprano, usually this text is performed in the version for bass, which is very different. Bononcini here decided to concentrate n the protection and love rather than anguish, giving his audience a softer and more positive movement.
