Schlafly Beer is not only the best tasting craft beer in the St. Louis region, it is also a unique community resource. Hear from the the people who make it all happen. This short documentary was made for a grad school class over the summer of 2008. It was shot on whatever cameras Webster University would loan me and an hv30 I borrowed from work. Enjoy!

http://www.skyninecinema.com When you think about a brewpub, chances are good that you're not envisioning something like Vault Brewing Company. And that's intentional - James and the other owners have sought to create a destination that defies the conventional wisdoms of normal bars and restaurants. After a few months of being open, it's safe to say they have succeeded. Vault Brewing Company occupies the previous home of several banks dating back to 1889; the original 8,000lb vault door now guards a select bevy of kegs and aging barrels. All brewing is done on-site; you can almost reach out and touch the fermenters while sitting at the bar. Aside from drinking the wort, that's as fresh as you can get. Across the main room is what James affectionately calls "the Bentley of ovens." It really is a visual centerpiece and it provides copious amounts of amazing smoky aroma. Their pizzas are outstanding - the Empty Bucket favorite is the Brown Sugar Buffalo. My mouth waters just thinking about it. This video was shot on the Black Magic Cinema Camera. It was our second major production with the camera and it really allowed us to get a feel for how it performs in low light situations. It's not a 5D but it still produces a very respectable image. And the flexibility of 12-bit raw is quite liberating even when an artistic grade is not required. To learn more about Vault Brewing Company, visit www.vaultbrewing.com. Click here to learn more about this video: http://bit.ly/RBCIndie Reclamation Brewing Company is a small team of American craft brewers from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania trying to fund their dream of opening a craft beer brewery / brewpub. Beer can be more than just an excuse to get drunk. When crafted correctly, beer can actually be a pleasure to drink. Fortunately, craft brewers exist to offer an alternative to the watered down, tasteless experience that we’ve become accustomed to. Since forming their company, the goal of Reclamation Brewing has been to craft great beers and educate people about beer and its history. If you know anything about RBC, you may know that I’ve been following Ben Smith, John Smith and Ben Duncan since the beginning, filming a three-part documentary series about their journey from beer lovers to beer brewers. However, this project was different. Instead of just following their journey, I needed to help them continue their journey through Indiegogo. You can learn more about Reclamation Brewing Company at http://www.reclamationbrewing.com and visit their brewpub in Butler, PA. The Reclamation Brewing Indiegogo video with filmed with the Canon EOS Rebel T3i DSLR running Magic Lantern with a Sigma 17-50MM F/2.8 lens. The Davis & Sanford Provista 7518 Tripod with FM18 Head and Glide Gear DEV 235 video camera track slider were used for support. Audio was captured with the Rode NTG2 condenser shotgun microphone and recorded using the TASCAM DR-60D linear PCM recorder. Two Qualite 300 V-2012 focusing flood lights were used along with two Impact LB-QL300 Luxbanx Duo softboxes to light the scene. The video was edited using Adobe Premiere and After Effects CS5.5 and color graded with Davinci Resolve 10 on an Apple Macbook Pro. With the ever-growing rise of the craft beer industry comes a new brewpub in Austin, Texas hoping to push the limits of creativity in beer-making and pizza. Pinthouse Pizza will be opening in late October 2012 with 45 beers on tap, a tasty variety of pizzas to choose from and a beautifully handcrafted establishment suitable for all ages! My sister's fiance and his business partners have been working on opening Pinthouse Pizza for over a year now and considering my passion for craft beer and production, I asked if they would be willing to let me shoot a little behind the scenes footage. With a few days of shooting, a few days of editing and a bunch of craft beer to accompany the process, I was able to put together this promo piece for the Pinthouse Pizza crew. Definitely can't wait to make it back out for the grand opening. Thanks to Ryan and Courtney Van Biene for the hospitality while shooting out in Austin. We decided to check out northern Minnesota's newest brew operation, in Ely, Minnesota. The Boathouse Brewpub had two in-house brews available when we toured on December 23, 2008: the Eel Pout Oatmeal Stout, and the Golden Pale Ale. We see great potential in this brewpub in helping to invigorate the local brewing scene in northern Minnesota.
