Meet Jack English, a 93-year-old legend who lives in a cabin isolated deep in the Ventana Wilderness. While on a hunting trip he learned that an old homestead in the Ventana Wilderness was being put up for auction by the estate of a childless heiress. He put a bid on the property and won. On the land he built a small cabin using materials from the land and milling trees by hand. When his wife passed away, Jack effectively left "society" and moved to the cabin full time.

On a tiny scrap of island near our home stands a battered cabin, long abandoned. Who built it, and why they went away, are mysteries. Every winter I ski out there - to look for clues, and to pay respect to the beauty and fleeting nature of dreams. Shot with iPod Touch and the lovely Lens Plus app. The song is "Dirt Rhodes" by Kevin MacLeod, available in the Vimeo Music Store.

This film is an intimate portrait of Mark Brookmire (August 2, 1951 - July 24, 2011) He has lived a solitary life for the last 20 years in a cabin in the woods of Western New York. After being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and given three months to live, his daughter immediately sought to capture the heart of her father as a poet, falconer and free-spirit in this deeply personal documentary. The first day out with my DIY IndiSlider, the Zaza-inspired design. I spent a late afternoon at the family cabin just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There is some noise/grain in this video, due to the fact that cloud cover moved in just as I set up to shoot, and there's not too much light under the canopy of the forest. But I wasn't going to let that stop me from testing out the slider. Music recorded in a pinch. Cedar flute, guitar, and acoustic bass guitar. Shot on a DVX100a, edited in FCP and graded with Magic Bullet Looks. Location audio recorded on a Zoom H4.

We had the amazing opportunity to travel to Chattanooga TN earlier this February with Calen's band Hoyle for writing, recording and exploring. Also around the same time, we just purchased our first drone, the DJI Phantom 2 and had to take it with us to TN. We had no idea that the locations there were absolutely breathtaking. We met up with some friends in that area and they showed us around all the best places to explore. In the video you will see scenes from Lookout Mountain, Cloudland Canyon, Rock City and our cabin in Rising Fawn, GA. Here is our explorations through the quadcopter's eyes. It is simply breathtaking how beautiful these places were. Really impressed with this drone. It was so fun and scary at the same time filming at these locations. Hope you enjoy the video. Music by Hoyle - instagram.com/hoylemusic *Equipment: DJI Phantom 2 w/gimbal GoPro Hero 3 Black AVL58 for monitoring Shot at 2.7K and 1080 60fps I didn't use protune or camera raw for this. I will on my next test footage. Some post stabilization and speed alterations along with some shots using the GoPro fisheye-fixer plugin Color grade in FCPX using some plugins from Color Grading Central Grain from Cinegrain **Just purchased the Fatshark Predator V2 Goggle and transmitter and will be trying that out next. I had a difficult time with the monitor whenever the GoPro adjusted the brightness when I was filming into the sun. Contrast was difficult to make out and wasn't clear enough to see the trees sometimes. I will say though that the range was amazing down the canyon. I sped up that shot and I still didn't have any transmission interference. I could have flew further but got nervous because no one could physically see it anymore.
