I have been very curious as to how of these two lenses stack up against each other. The Tamron is $1000 cheaper than the Canon version. Watch the review to see how much of a difference there is. On 04 Sept 2012, Anchorage, Alaska (as much of South Central Alaska) experienced an incredible wind storm. Gusts over 100mph in some places. I thought it would be neat to capture the sky. Unexpectity, the northern lights decided to show up. My David & Sanford tripod was a beast. Caleb Pike (vimeo.com/calebpike) recommended this tripod a while back. This is my first test with my new Canon 550d. It's the kit lens and this is raw footage and no grading. Sound was recorded with the Rode SVM microphone attached to the Camera Via the horse Shoe. The footage was taken at my local Pub. The King William IV. They had their annual BRODIES beer festival and I was their as I was working on another project, which hopefully you will see in a few weeks. I wanted to see how the camera preformed without actually doing anything to the footage, just shoot and upload. I am blown away with the quality from just the basic kit, but will be investing in some prime lenses as soon as funds will allow. This is only a test for my own purposes, but will still use some of the footage for the project. I've waited about 18mths to purchase the 550D and am glad that now I have it. Big thanks to Dave Dugdale and Caleb Pike, who's tutorials got me more motivated to get the Camera, and all the videos in the EOS550/T2i group for inspiration. Canon 550D Kit Lens. Velbon Tripod. http://www.learningvideo.com/nab2015/ I really liked Sebastian Wöber's video called NAB2014 - I Don't Need Stuff from last NAB2014, I told him I wanted to give his format a try, so I totally stole his idea (Sebastian hope you don't mind). I learned a lot while editing it to Sebastian format. His video from last year: https://vimeo.com/92253438
