As a student in the Recreation department at Chico State I enrolled in the Recreation Therapy and Inclusion class(Recr 260). A project in this class is called The Wheelchair Experience. The project requires that you spend 4 hours in a wheelchair and visit multiple locations on campus and in the downtown area. For me, this experience was enlightening, fun, physically demanding on my upper strength. Instead of writing a paper about the experiences I had that day, John and I decided to team up and film our day so that what we could share our experience visually with a larger audience. Enjoy!

February 27, 2014 Event-related resources (e.g., PDF of presentation, etc.): https://wested.box.com/s/am8dns8rax7arsdhfdbh In this archived webinar, an overview of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and key changes from previous standards is presented. Highlights include examples from K-12 classrooms implementing change in response to the NGSS, science preparation in the CSU system, and course requirements and content for the future. Incorporating engineering and literacy skills into the science classroom are some of the biggest concerns we have heard from K-12 teachers about NGSS, so the panelists focus on how to make the connections with engineering/literacy in CSU classes as potential examples for K-12. . This webinar is aimed at a broad group of stakeholders in education—university faculty, district administrators, STEM coordinators, curriculum specialists, and instructional leaders—and was co-hosted by the CSU Chancellor's Office. Find more resources and share your own at the Teaching Commons Website: CSU Science Education Community: http://teachingcommons.cdl.edu/ngss/ Presenters: Introduction by Joan Bissell, CSU Teacher Education & Public School Programs Panel Moderator: Danika LeDuc, CSU East Bay Overview of NGSS: Sandi Yellenberg, Santa Clara County Office of Education Panelists: Carol Fry Bohlin, Fred Nelson, and Fariborz Tehrani from CSU Fresno; Deidre Sessoms and Barbara Munn from Sacramento State University; and Caleb Cheung from the Oakland Unified School District.
