As a climber sometimes our biggest job is to try to do justice to the amazing stories of our friends and peers. For this piece I worked with our crew at http://camp4collective.com to tell http://thenorthface.com athlete Jimmy Chin's http://jimmychin.com story as he in turn highlights modern day climbing in Yosemite for a National Geographic feature story. It seemed so serendipitous to be 'on assignment' in a place that we all cut out teeth as adventurers and which also ended up becoming the namesake of our collective! As always, thanks for tuning in! ~reo Camp 4 Collective on vimeo: http://vimeo.com/camp4collective/videos Shot on the Canon 5d, L series lenses, http://www.kesslercrane.com/ pocket dolly v2 and http://www.rodemic.com/ video mic pro. Although I was injured with a few broken vertebrae in my neck during this expedition it was awesome to live vicariously through the edit process! cheers, ~reo ---------------------------------------------------------- "In a lot of ways, this is the antithesis of the modern ski porn flick. A lot of rock star skiers and not much skiing! Ha! Well, hopefully having a narrative helps the piece along. It was a tough piece to put together with all the different characters. I decided to focus the story on Sage and Lucas and was hoping the piece would give people a sense of who those two characters are besides being rock star skiers/snowboarders. I often feel like the whole process of skiing and who the skiers actually are gets lost in most of the films today." ~jimmy chin ---------------------------------------------------------- Free-ride skier Sage Cattabriga-Alosa and big mountain snowboarder Lucas Debari step out of their elements and make an attempt to climb, ski and snowboard Denali. Sage and Lucas get a helping hand from a huge cast of seasoned and professional climbers and ski mountaineers from the North Face Athlete Team, including Hilaree O’Neill, Conrad Anker, Ingrid Backstrom, Jim Zellers, Emilio Previtali and Giulia Monego, as the two embark on the hardest expedition of their lives. ------------------------------------------------------------ a http://camp4collective production Director : Jimmy Chin Cinematographers : Jimmy Chin, Matt Irving, Adam Clark Editor: Renan Ozturk Motion Graphics: Barry Thompson, Eric Bucy, Marty Blumen Additional Media: Teton Gravity Research, Absinthe Films, Colby Coombs, Renan, Sage and Lucas Color: Anson Fogel Shot with the 5D and TM900 music in order of appearance: Philip Sheppard Song: Night Vision http://PhilipSheppard.com Yppah Song: Never Mess With Sunday http://Myspace.com/Yppah Sun Wukong Project Song: Clear Puzzles in Mjet http://TheSunWukong.com Ammoncontact Song: Like Waves Of The Sea http://NinjaTune.net/Artist/Ammoncontact Philip Sheppard Song: The Valley http://PhilipSheppard.com The Damn Sons Song: Who Wants More http://DamnSons.com CatacombKid Song: Digital Cliffs http://CatacombKid.com CatacombKid Song: Water http://CatacombKid.com Amon Tobin Song: Bloodstone http://AmonTobin.com Ape School My Intention (Yppah Remix Instrumental) http://NinjaTune.net/Artist/Ape-School Fink Song: Yesterday Was Hard On All Of Us http://FinkWorld.co.uk

f-stop's collaborative effort with our team of photographers and filmers is an essential cog in product research and development. Working with industry leading professionals to help design and build the ultimate camera packs and bags is an ongoing endeavor that has helped shape the brand and company we are today. In an effort to give back to the f-stop Pro Team and photo/film community, we've set out to tell the story of a few of our team photographers and filmers. Episode 1 of 'Life in Focus' features f-stop Pro, Tim Kemple. Those who follow the outdoor action sports world--especially climbing--have likely come across Tim's work before. With over a decade of commercial experience to his name, his images have been featured in blogs, billboards, and print ads across the globe. His focus has been capturing world renowned athletes in their element--very often in some of the most beautiful landscapes on Earth. Tim co-founded Camp4Collective with fellow athletes/shooters, Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk. We had the opportunity to go behind the scenes with Tim on a shoot in Chamonix for Black Diamond, to capture him in his element, and hear how his story began. Special thanks to Tim Kemple, www.Kemplemedia.com, www.Camp4collective.com, www.BlackDiamond.com, www.Photographytalk.com and Dylan Taylor for couch space in Chamonix! Our crazy first year as a production team ended with a wild adventure to document the first ever climbing in the remote Ennedi desert of Chad, Africa. After 4 days and 800km of following a GPS coordinate on a roadless wasteland we found ourselves among thousands of beautiful unclimbed towers. Tim http://kemplemedia.com/, Jimmy http://jimmychin.com and I http://rockmonkeyart.com all have a lot of experience in expedition storytelling from the high himalaya to the jungles of Borneo but this trip redefined 'remote' for all of us. We were so psyched to collectively push our gear and creativity with our athlete friends at http://thenorthface.com. Besides the knife fights with the locals and a few lenses lost to the sand things went pretty smooth. We were able to run our entire work flow without a generator using http://goalzero.com solar and battery setups. It was also our first time shooting the motion time-lapse setup on the http://kesslercrane.com pocket dolly which was the secret weapon in so many ways. A director's cut of the final film "Towers of the Ennedi" will screen at http://www.5pointfilm.org/ at the end of April before the full premier at http://www.mountainfilm.org/ at the end of May!
