PO PO (25minutes/UK/2013/Director: Ken Fero/Migrant Media) The story always begins with death. Jason McPherson loses his life in shocking circumstances after being taken to Notting Hill Police Station - the Independent Police Complaint Commission (IPCC) begin an internal investigation into the ‘incident’. Jason’s family is devastated and then angered when they discover what happened. Using exclusive CCTV footage and rare access to an IPCC Commissioner the film lays bare the impact of a death in police custody. The search for the truth by Jason’s sister runs parallel to the filmmaker’s investigation of light. This radical documentary film combines moving testimonies, poetry and a political analysis of state violence. Emotional and disturbing, ‘Po Po’ is more evidence that the IPCC are complicit in the lack of successful prosecutions of police officers for deaths in their custody. In the end, what emerges in the light is the need for resistance.

                  from George Miller / Added

On Wednesday 16th December 2009, Trafalgar Square will host a free feast of biblical proportions: a modern day Feeding the 5000. From 12-2pm, a partnership of campaigners, charities and prominent supporters will serve lunch to 5000 members of the public to highlight the problem of food waste, and the many practical ways to solve it. Rich countries like the UK currently waste up to half of their food supplies. All the food handed out on the day to passers-by will be made from fresh and nutritious ingredients that otherwise would have been wasted. In this short film, Tristram Stuart, author of Waste, explains the problem - and outlines the solutions.

I was commissioned to produce two separate films for 'Tearfund' on a trip to Tanzania and Zambia. Tearfund is a Christian international aid and development agency working globally to end poverty and injustice, and to restore dignity and hope in some of the world’s poorest communities. This film was created for a UK audience and highlights the benefits of campaigning. This was achieved with the help of Dr David Golding CBE, a long term Tearfund volunteer and campaigner. We followed him on his first trip to the Continent as he witnessed first hand the impact debt relief has had upon Tanzania and Zambia.
